The link won't work for me; the page won't open. Thanks, anyway. Might it be a slightly different URL?

message 61: by [deleted user] (new)

I just tried it. It's a link to a pdf file, and it takes a minute to download.

My husband found another source for free e-books, similar to gutenberg.org:

Hi, Lisa. This is really an area to post resources helpful to other group members. Perhaps you could also ask in one of the chat folders, and please feel free to introduce yourself. Welcome to the group and welcome to Goodreads.

Tracey (stewartry) Raisin in the Sun, maybe? And The Emperor Jones, maybe? I'm finding quite a few musicals here on Wikipedia.

Chrissie Simran, by mistake I bought the play version of the novel: The Syringa Tree: The Play. The novel was written later, if I remember correctly. It sort of fills out the play. It takes place in South Africa. It was pretty good, but I wanted the novel.

message 72: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie Oh, sorry. I mistuindrstood what you were looking for. This one will not fit at all.

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

How about Five Plays by Langston Hughes? This is the first name to pop into my head.

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

Or maybe August Wilson?

message 75: by [deleted user] (new)

Good. I only know them by reputation, rather than personal experience. Fences is supposed to be good.

Chrissie, I have The Syringa Tree in novel format. Let me know if you ever get your hands on it and we can joint read it. Or maybe since you read the play you won't get the novel?

message 77: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie Diane, no I do not plan on getting the novel. I am reading all the tons of books sitting on my wooden shelves. I only let myself by audiobooks, until I read all the books I have piled up here. that is my intention. Let's see how long it holds
