Do you think our society is really on this route? We have so many different surgeries to fix the slightest mishap on our bodies from nose to teeth to scars. How do you feel about going under the knife to became "Pretty"?

"Pretty"? So many girls obsess themselves with their hair and appearance, it's ah-noying. Like that woman who spent like a million dollars on plastic surgeries because she wanted to look like a "barbie doll". I'm happy with me, and I don't want to have to see our society ruin itself that way.
"PEOPLE ASK ME WHY IM DIFFRENT I REPLY BECAUSE I WALK PATHS OTHERS DO NOT AND I WILL LEAVE A TRAIL WHERE OTHERS DARE TO FOLLOW!"
Dare to be yourself and dare to make your own path. Life is worth living your own way. I'd be crazy to do what is expected of me.
As you age you would probably think of getting something simple done. For me I couldn't spend that much money and be ok with it. The things I would want to fix could be done with simple hard work and exercise.

Yeah my mom thinks the same thing. It's taking her a while to lose the 20 pounds she doesn't want, but she's working on it. She's not just wasting valuable money on plastic surgery. She loves herself, and I think that's what everyone needs to do: love themselves.
Defiantly. It takes a strong person to be comfortable in their own skin. I'm different in more then one way but I'm happy with my life now. Single for the most part, except for the long distance conversations, and living the way I prefer. I defy societies right to shape me. I will go and do as life personally shapes me.
I think even you could contemplate living under your own moral rules. Not having to do something someone orders you to do. No worries really on how you dress and if you say something stupid then you just put your foot into your mouth. Your views are your own. Of course within reason of the laws of the government. I'm not saying go crazy but it changes you to be able to experiment, learn what your views really are.
What about Tally? She was so ready to enter this world of perfection and similarity.
(No I shouldn't these are your ideas and I just run with them.)

((They're not always my ideas you know. Stop giving me all this credit.))Tally... I think she needs to just be "free" for these last three months that she has to be ugly. She might not be able to do all the things that she can now. She revolves around Peris wayyy too much, like she just can't breathe unless he's there with her.
The funny thing is that Peris is just a friend. Friends don't act that way, I think she loves him. Bu I havent read farther into the book yet.
I think she does too. (Am saying this because I can't remember a lot of the stuff from later in the book.)
Good thing you are re-reading.
Exactly. I didn't want to start Pretties and not know what was going on. That would've been totally pointless.
There is a topic for group book suggestions. List some books that you can find there. =) We'll like to pick a book everyone can read.
I do think we are on the route of destroying the earth. Although, I think many people are trying to do small things to help which is good.

A friend just commented to me yesterday how she's been watching game shows from years ago and then current ones, and the women are so much bustier today. But then people are getting larger all around. You seldom see anyone as slim as Lucille Ball or any of the other actors from the 1950s/1960s.
That is true. We have too many different foods at our finger tips that we should never even consider eating.
I don't think we are on the same route but there is definitely more and more plastic surgery going on. It's not something I would do but some people have legit reasons for doing it but there are just as many (maybe more) that do it because they don't think they pretty enough, which is crap put in people's head's by today's media.
Plastic surgery is just one of our down falls. The rich can afford and they look good and/or young so very one else wants to have a go at it. I think there are more pressing matters. Like us killing off the rain forest, ruining lands because of drilling for oil, and other factors that we should be more worried about. People say we are killing the planet. No, we are killing our selves. The planet will be here long after the human race kills itself off. Being a Barbie doll is not going to help you when it comes down to what matters.
You should try to read them ASAP! They're ah-mazing and I'm sure you'll love them. All I have left is Extras, but Specials is definitely my favorite so far. :)
I have read Pretties...I was good and I have Specials on hold at the library and have to pick it up Tuesday or Wednesday. Whichever day I get there. I don't know how soon I will get to it though cause I have like 5 other books I want to read before I start it. But anyhow I enjoyed Pretties and I am sure I will like Specials too.
