Lori,

I get stuck on authors too, no worries! :) I'm planning on starting the Outlander series this year. In fact, I'm hoping to get to the first book soon! I think it was three years ago that I got on a huge Jodi Picoult kick, and read pretty much every book of hers. Have you read Nineteen Minutes? I've got that one, and I'm hoping to manage to get to it this year.

What did you think of The Gargoyle? I read it last year and really enjoyed it. I must admit that I really loved it because I speak Japanese, and I loved the fact that it had a nice couple of paragraphs in Japanese. It was so refreshingly nice to get to read in Japanese... :) If you enjoyed the book, you may want to check out the goodreads group The Next Best Bookclub. They are currently reading this book, so there's a discussion thread for it. Not too long ago, the author actually participated in a discussion thread for a different goodreads group. I'm hoping that he'll join in on this one. :)

Outlander Series -- they are BIG books -- and I read all 7 of them twice in 2009. I guess late in the year I got tired of finding new fiction to read, and just went back and read these. I love the series, can't wait for the next one to find out what happens to everybody. Who knows how long that will be, though, since # 7 just came in October.

Jodi Picoult is a favorite of mine, too. I have not read Nineteen Minutes, although I know about it. It's a hard subject -- school shootings -- and an EXCELLENT novel on this topic, actually centers around Columbine, is The Hour I First Believed: A Novel by Wally Lamb.

I liked The Gargoyle, but didn't love it. Sometimes things got a little too weird for my taste. And it was certainly graphic/grotesque when talking about his injuries. Arrgh.

True, the books was very graphic! How did you like the part at the beginning of the book where he tells you to put your ear to the stove and let it sit there? Wow, that was eye opening!
