Sunflower | 22 comments Another one down. Really enjoyed "The Haunting of Hill House" and can see why it made the list.

Sunflower | 22 comments Just finished "The House of Mirth". Not much mirth in it. Will add to my list later, I don't know what number it is.

message 4: by Sunflower (new)

Sunflower | 22 comments Finished Hemingway's "The Sun Also Rises". This one gets to count for both lists, which is good 'cos I'm not going too well on the Board's list.

message 5: by Sunflower (new)

Sunflower | 22 comments Dune done. Didn't think I was going to get into it, the elaborate construction of the world took a bit of getting used to, but it is a classic of its kind.

Sunflower | 22 comments Another one which counts for both lists! (Only 3 more of those though, and one is Ulysses, which I am not looking forward to) As I Lay Dying is a challenging read but I did appreciate once I did some background reading about it. You can almost taste the dust, smell the deceased, and feel their collective helplessness.

Sunflower | 22 comments Ragtime done! A strangely constructed book with fictional people interacting with real historical characters.

message 8: by Sunflower (new)

Sunflower | 22 comments A Passage to India, which also counts for another challenge I am doing elsewhere. Had seen the movie, so knew what was coming. Language quite quaint, novel very evocative of its time and location.
