Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
This book is part of our November read for our bookclub, and I have good things about this book. I look forward to reading in the next week or so.
It is supposedly about a young man, Jacob, who meets a girl Marlena who is married to August and an untrainable elephant called Rosie. It takes place during the Great Depression and I am curious to how this all unfolds.

No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
If you like sleuthing out mysteries in African landscape and characters, this may be the book for you as you follow Precious and her adventures.
#40
Tears of the Giraffe by Alexander McCall Smith
This is the second book in the series, as I rather enjoyed the light read and stories put together to show Mmma Rowantse use every day means to solve her mysteries. It continues into this book as do the main characters and show how they evolve and get to know them a little better.
#41
Morality for Beautiful Girls by Alexander McCall Smith
I am getting much slower than I intended - but 9 more to go until I make my goal, just need to buckle down in the next 2 weeks. Just started the third installment of the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, and keep enjoying the character development and the stories that unfold throughout each novel.
#42
The Cather in the Rye by JD Salinger
About a teenager who is expelled from prep school and his inner stream of thought processes. Takes place in the early 1950s.
#43
The Kalahari Typing School for Men by Alexander McCall Smith
I have been enjoying the previous 3 books in this series as light and enjoyable reads with interesting landscapes, characters and situations as they unfold and look forward this reading this one as well.
#44
The Full Cupboard of Life by Alexander McCall Smith
These are such an easy read and enjoyable stories, just finished Book 4 and now on to Book 5 of the series with Mme Ramotswe and her friends and family and her Botswana.
Oh buggers...I was only SIX books short of my goal. Can't complain though as I read 14 more books than the previous year. Thanks to everyone for suggestions/recommendations as well as feedback. Wishing you all a successful and happy 2011!!Cheers!

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Also known as the modern Promethus (sp?), it is telling of the history of Frankenstein and its creator, Viktor and his upbringing.
