Hi, Gwen. I read this earlier this year and it has become one of my all time favorites: the translation was incredible! Such vocabulary...plus the philosophical musings. I loved it! It reconfirmed my desire to become a greater autodidact! What did you think?
Hi Cindi,I completely agree!
Paloma was my favorite character. I loved the way she examined life, her family and everyone around her; she was very shrewd, but you could tell she was still defining herself. To see her growth through the story was amazing.
Gwen wrote: "48. She's Come Undone By Wally Lamb"I really thought this book was well done when I read it, what did you think of it?

Unfortunately, I did not feel the same way. I wanted to feel sorry for Dolores, but she did nothing to really help herself. After Dolores was committed to the institution I felt a turn in the book and she was finally helping herself.

I had similar feelings when I was reading, but I thought that was enough of a redemption. I'm a bit of a sucker and feel sorry for characters too easily. I Know this Much Is True and The Hour I First Believed are much improved over She's Come Undone, more powerful.
