Barbara Matteson | 24 comments I think it did win an Oscar. I can't wait to see it. I'm about 1/2 way through the book.

Joy | 314 comments Rebecca won Best Picture in 1940. It was Hitchcock's only Best Picture Oscar and he never got an Oscar for Best Director. Isn't that amazing?!

Barbara Matteson | 24 comments That is amazing! I love all of his movies. I don't think there's anyone now, or possibly ever will be, anyone like him.

Yay! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it! It's an excellent comfort read!

Hi, Courtney. Welcome to the group. I guess that book is based on a classic. Did you like it?

Petra I started War and Peace (the Briggs translation) today. It's part of a January Group Read in another group and it'll help to have fellow-readers along for the ride.

It's paraphrased P&P, with zombie action thrown in. :(

Good luck! Great winter read, I suppose.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I have a great collection of Classic novels, but am working through them slowly. :/ Some of the ones I have gotten around to and really liked were Vanity Fair, Pride and Prejudice, 1984, and Great Expectations. A couple of the ones I have read and was disappointed in are The Great Gatsby, Brave New World, and Heart of Darkness.
