Hi, Helena. Glad you stayed in the group, even though inactive. You'll find plenty of members here who enjoy all the genres you've mentioned. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Helena! We're glad you rejoined us! We rarely kick anybody out of this group. We're a very well behaved and friendly bunch of readers.
Hi everyone, My name is Luda, and I currently work towards my doctoral degree in the UK. I'm originally from Ukraine, but lived here and there for a while.:)
With regard to comfort reads, I usually go for fairy tale retellings, fantasy books by Patricia McKillip and Robin McKinley, and lighter adventure reads when I feel like taking a break from the academic literature. The last fiction book I read was Spindle's End, although I'm also trying to get through A Dance With Dragons. My go-to comfort read is Howl's Moving Castle - I got the audiobook so that I can listen to it whenever I feel stressed and tired! Any other Howl fans out there?
Welcome, Luda! I've always wanted to read Howl's Moving Castle but haven't yet gotten around to it.
Hi Luda, Welcome to the group. I enjoyed Howl's Moving Castle, but for me it's not a special comfort read. I read it fairly recently, I think for a Goodreads group read. Lee, and all, it is worth reading.
I love Howl & Sophie, Luda, as well as books from the authors you mentioned. Two of my favorites are The Changeling Sea and Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast (the original of McKinley's two B&tB retellings). I also enjoyed Chalice very much. Welcome!
Hi Luda, Exciting about the doctoral degree, what is the subject? My bf has a doctor's degree in Marine Biology. They seem to have so much fun - but an insane amount of work too -during those predoctoral years.
Hi everyone,I liked the idea behind Comfort Reads. Joined because the book I'm reading is exactly that.
. I find myself smiling the entire time I'm reading it! By the way I'm Janice.
Hi Janice, welcome to the group. I'm quite new here myself! Sounds like a very nice way to enjoy a book!

Hey guys!!For me reading almost anything that takes me away is a comfort, but I do have so e books the I default to in times of need
Privilege of the Sword by Ellen Kushner
The Corinthian by Georgette Heyer
Alana Song of the Lionesses (series) by Tamora Pierce
Ai Hime (I don't know the author, but it's on my manga shelf if you wanna look)
They're a little unusual but that's what's comforting, to know that the world is a weird affair. And they remind me off my childhood ( the happy part a little) too.
Hi, Dr. Watson. Welcome to the group, and thanks for already sharing some of your favorite comfort read books.
Hey everyone. I just sort of seemed to stumble into this group tonight and it looked like a fairly friendly/active group to try out. =)I usually gravitate towards Barbara Kingsolver, Chuck Palahniuk or any book I read as a child (Lord of the Rings, etc) for comfort reads.
Hi, Tiffani. Welcome to the group. Glad you found us. I'm sure you'll find many members share your taste in comfort reads books, and you're likely to find more books from our members, and I'll bet we'll get more ideas from you too. Feel free to jump in wherever you feel comfortable. Yes, we are a friendly group of people.
Thanks Lisa :) I've been browsing around the different topics! Looking forward to adding more books into my to-read piles and meeting some new people!
Hi everyone, my name is Jess. I'm 22 years old and I live in Pennsylvania. I love reading, and I read a lot of different books. I'm open to anything!

Are you new to GR, or just new to the group, Jess? I feel like I've met you on another group, but I might be remembering someone else. Either way, welcome!
EDIT: I was right -- you've come back after being away. Welcome back, Jess! :)

Haha yes, Jeannette, I'm back! To make a long story short, for a while there, I was joining too many groups, so I decided to start over. I left most and came back to the ones I really enjoyed, this being one of them. :)
I recognized you! (Then I dug around and found all your old posts from two years ago.) Welcome back, again! :)
Hi everyone! My name is Jamie I am 30 years old and from Pennsylvania. I recently stumbled across this site and am so excited! I have already read so many recommended books and I love having a list so nothing I want to read slips through the cracks :). My taste in books completely varies but lately my "comfort reads" have been Young Adult, I think I skipped this genre when I actually WAS a young adult lol. I also gravitate towards Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Anything for a good escape!
Welcome Jamie! Our group seems to be popular in Pennsylvania this week! :)

Hi, Jamie. Welcome to the group. I also have really eclectic taste in books, and I also enjoy young adult and speculative fiction books. This is a great site! I hope you enjoy it, and hope that you enjoy this group.
Hello everyone, just finding my way around Goodreads and liked the sound of comfort reads.:)Looking forward to reading through the posts now and getting some ideas from the group.
Thanks Lisa,I'll get to work on my bookshelf this week and hopefully have some comfort reads I can come back and mention here..
Hi Bill,
Welcome to our amazing group! We have tons of comfort reads already on the shelves if you want to take a look. Or you can check the threads by genre and add or comment on whatever hits your fancy. You will love Goodreads!

Hi everyone, I'm new to goodreads, still finding my way around. I have a few go-to authors when I need a good easy read...Sophia Kinsella probably tops the list, but I also like Sue Grafton, Anitia Shreve, Danielle Steele, lee Child, and the list could go on. I'm still trying to add books I've read, and rate them, to my bookshelf.
I recently found Kate Morton and have read most of her books, my favourite was 'the secret garden'.
Welcome, Candace!
Even if you meant The Forgotten Garden, The Secret Garden is also a great comfort read! I hope you find many more comfort reads while you're with us. :-)
