Hi Felicia! Welcome to the group. I've been collecting a few free Kindle books to read on my computer. Enjoy!

Welcome Felicia! Your endorsement of Quo Vadis is very appealing, I see I have it on my to-read list but had forgotten about it amongst the thousands of other books. I hope you discover many more great books with us and feel free to contribute to any of the threads we have going here.

Hi everyone! My comfort books : The Time Traveller's Wife, the Harry Potter Series and The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I love a book that you can curl up with and just be enthralled for hours! I would love any recommendatoins from anyone.

Hi, Lisa. Welcome to the group.I'm about to read The Help for my real world book club's June book. Well, I'll start it in a week or two.
I also find Harry Potter Boxset and The Time Traveler's Wife to be comfort reads.
Take a look around the group, post when you feel like it, and we hope you have fun. We have a very nice bunch of people who are members here.
My comfort books are anything in the Young Adult/Paranormal line of books. I like to read the vampire type series, but I've also gotten some interest in the Romance line as well. My favourite one so far is "Final Hours" by Norma Beishir. It's the kind of book that will make you laugh and cry and fall in love with the characters. The other book I love is "Water For Elephants" by Sara Gruen. If you haven't gotten a chance to read the book, then you should. The movie is great, but the books are always so much better. You won't be disappointed with either one of these books.
Thanks, Beth, for sharing some of your favorite genres and books. You'll never be alone here. Our members have such eclectic tastes and seem to always find other members who like the books they like.

My name is Olivia Boler and I'm the author of a novel, Year of the Smoke Girl (Dry Bones Press). My comfort reads are just about any Jane Austen novel. Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass are great favorites from my childhood. My adult tastes are more eclectic. I love the works of Ann Patchett and my good pal Siobhan Fallon, but I'm a sucker for Harry Potter and The Hunger Games too. And good chick lit like Emily Giffin is a nice easy breezy read.

Hi Olivia, Welcome to the group. Once you've participated in the group for a while, feel free to post about your book in the author's corner folder. (Folder names are in alphabetical order.) Thanks for sharing some of your comfort reads. Our members have very eclectic tastes so you'll always find people here who love the books you love.

My name is Jennifer and I am a teacher in Northern Canada. I love reading and it helps me get through the very long winters that we have up here. Reading is very much a comfort to me and I often use it to escape. I love looking at what others are reading to give me titles for my to-read list. I'm so happy to be here.

Hi, Jennifer. Welcome to the group. We're very happy to have you join us. You've found a bunch of people who find reading comforting, and we have very eclectic tastes in types of comfort read books. Feel free to take a look around at our bookshelves, polls, and discussion threads, and continue to participate whenever and wherever strikes your fancy.

Welcome Jennifer!! I read an historical novel, The Tenderness of Wolves set in Canada and I kept thinking I needed to turn the heat up! Stay warm!

Hi Jennifer, I don't envy you those extra long winters and can definitely empathize. We're glad you found us and hopefully you will discover lots of new books to keep you company.

Hello there. I've just joined this group: it looks like fun! I live in Sydney, Australia and comfort reads form one of my favourite categories of reading material. There are some books that I read again and again: when I am unwell, when it's cold and wet outside (like it is today!!), when I'm feeling sad or a bit fragile. I look forward to being part of the group.

Welcome to the group, Kim! I've seen you around GR -- I never forget a cupcake! Join us on chat or any of the other threads. We're a pretty cheerful bunch. :)

Lee wrote: "Hi Kim, what a beautiful cupcake you have there! I think you'll fit right in."Why, thank you, Lee. The cupcake is the masterpiece (!) I created in a cupcake decorating class. I love baking but I'm very un-handy at decorating. The class made me decide to stick with baking! Still, I was proud of all the effort which went into producing one pretty pink decorated cupcake!

Kim, I love baking too but I never manage to decorate anything. We just end up eating things and often they don't even get frosted!

Baking is so comforting, it is what I tend to do ehen I need a pick me up. Must admit I haven't tried the decorating but it sure looks pretty!

Hi, Khairu. Welcome to this group. This group has wonderfully nice members who will be happy to help you navigate both Goodreads and this group.

Hi everyone. I am a SAHM with four kids ages 8-13. I am an avid reader, I've been on GR for over a year, but am just getting involved in groups. I discovered this group after reading The Penderwicks at Point Mouette and seeing it listed here. I have so many favorites it's hard to list. L'Engle's Wrinkle in Times series, Hales' Goose Girl series and Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables series are on the top, so I'll start with them. Thanks, I look forward to reading with you all!

Hi, Angie. Welcome to the group! Oh, and I wanted to add, you look as though you will fit in really well here!

4 kids? Good Lord honey, I stopped at 3! You are brave or a little crazy! LOL!!! I know, if you're a mom, it's a little bit of both. Mine are 11 to 16, so I've just recently been where you are now.
Welcome to the group!
Kristi,Thanks for the welcome. This is one of my favorite quotes:
"One child is a lot of work. You might think a second child would be double the work, but he will quadruple it. The third multiplies it by 27. A fourth child makes very little impact possibly because you can't find him." --author unknown

My name is Mikela and I just love to read everything from the classics, mysteries, urban fantasy, to YA and others in between. When I feel like just curling up and enjoying a good book I'll re-read a good Dick Francis novel or Agatha Christie mystery. Of course, I think I've read the Harry Potter series and the Lord of The Rings trilogy 3 or 4 times each so will rest them for awhile. Always on the look-out for something new.

Of course, one could always say Unreal Hubby is the 4th. Then again, it's next to impossible to "lose" him, so maybe not.
Thank you...am glad to be a member. Today is sunny, warm and a perfect day to relax with a good book.

Hello Everyone, My name is Cathleen and I'm from Concord, MA. I just happened upon your group yesterday and after reading some of the posts and recommendations, I was eager to join. I love to read widely, but when I think of comfort reads, I think of mysteries. Elizabeth George, Peter Robinson, Gary Disher, Ann Cleeves, Susan Hill all come to mind. I've recently read two of Elly Griffiths mysteries and I can't wait for her next one. I've also become hooked on Scandinavian mysteries--Hakan Nesser, Camilla Lackberg. Although I wasn't familiar with "chick lit," a friend on Goodreads recommended Katie Fforde and I read Stately Pursuits last week. I really enjoyed that--so maybe I'll have to expand my list for "comfort reads." :)

Currently my 'comfort read' would have to be Quo Vadis. I know it's old but so awesome. I've never seen a man do such a wonderful job at describing a woman. Pratically gives me chills while I read over it. Another great thing about it, it was FREE at Amazon on my kindle. Can't beat that!
