In Alaska we drink gain alcohol that tends to warm one up. But I can't do that at work.

Nick, you need a stash of paperbacks and hot cocoa mix.

Yep, Sarah, I'm a lucky girl.

David Cerruti << "Cologne makes me sneeze."
What a turn-on.

Did you ever kiss your honey
When her nose was red and runny
You may think it's funny
But it's not.

message 154: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 30 comments as far as cologne goes, a little is generally nice, but a lot is worse than nothing. and axe does not count as cologne. sorry guys.

even though their commercials are sheer genius.

If that really happened to me, I'd stop brushing my hair and rub dirt in my eye...:)

message 156: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) LOL Amelia! I was thinking the same ... maybe when you are not concentrated on how to present your self you are more attractive, less on the deffense? look more approachable?

message 157: by Sarah (last edited Apr 29, 2008 09:56AM) (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I don't know, but every time I look like crap I inevitably see someone I don't want to see. Like an ex-boyfriend or a bitchy gossipy friend or someone I went to high school with.

message 158: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 576 comments You've got a point there Lorena, sometimes going to the pub in jeans, boots and t-shirt, no make-up and hair not quite straight, is when I get guys chatting to me the most.

message 159: by Lorena (last edited Apr 29, 2008 10:02AM) (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) Sarah, Now that happens everytime! And often times I run into the same person who saw me looking my worst last time around. The shame! ;o)

Hayley, take me with you next time!!!!! LOL

message 160: by [deleted user] (new)

Hell, I grew up in this town...I went to four different high schools in this town...I work downtown! You'd think I'd run into people I new all the time, no matter how hideous or normal I look. I never run into anyone I know...literally...never! One time in six years...ONE...I ran into an old growing up friend at the post office.

I don't keep "bitchy gossipy" friends, I tell them to kiss my ass and never talk to them again!

Hayley, let me get this straight, jeans, boots, t-shirt, no makeup and hair not quite done (mine is super curly...so not quite straight is really a Diana Ross fro, and that's not cute by anyone's standards). Is that right? I'll have to try that next time we go to the pub for a bite and see what happens! Maybe I'll take Donna's advice and also rub some dirt in my eye, piss off my best friend and take an estrogen pill...that aught to do it!

message 161: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 576 comments I love the simple look, not all men like the over made up women - sometimes when I'm dressed to the nines I get completely ignored - happened on Friday. My last bf liked me in Ugg's and a denim skirt - simple and sexy is how he described it lol

message 162: by [deleted user] (new)

Gawd, you guys are great! With all this advice I aught to have a new man in no time! Thanks!! :)

message 163: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I guess they're more like bitchy gossipy acquaintances. Not someone I'd call a friend but someone who knows all the same people I do.

message 164: by [deleted user] (new)

You should still tell them to kiss your ass and ignore them...not worth the bother!

message 165: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) Or your supper gossipy across the street neighboor, (in my case), to whom by my dismay I run into everywhere!!!!!

message 166: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 576 comments Bitchy gossipy acquaintances are not worth the bother if they make you feel self-concious(sp)about yourself. I've decided I'm me and you ever like me for me or you don't!

message 167: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, I'd have to do bad things to her...the lighting of the poo bag on the doorstep, a few well aimed rotten eggs, release a bag of aphids on her roses...you get the picture! They'd blame most of it on neighborhood kids if you play it right. They don't often suspect grown-ups if toilet paper and silly string are involved. I'd teach her not to gossip!

message 168: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) ... rotten eggs, aphids on roses, (writting notes down Amelia) LOL

message 169: by [deleted user] (new)

Me thinks you are over thinking things Donna...not all guys are assholes with ulterior motives. Some are, you just have to weed them out!

message 170: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 576 comments amelia - spot on, I was completely ingored on Friday nite - I had super straight hair, make-up, pair of shorts and a yellow backless top and not a single bloke looked my way - the simple look is always the best!

message 171: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 30 comments that is a strange phenomena donna... in my opinion, i look pretty much the same every day (some days are better than others, but generally speaking, very similar), but some days i get all sorts of attention, and others i get none. and it never adds up to all the slightly better than average days, or the slightly worse than average. for instance, today i'm wearing a skirt that i wear at least once every other week or so (because it's my favorite). occassionally i'll get a "hey, cool skirt" from a couple of women i work with, but usually that's it. but today when i was out to lunch, i have no less than 10 people tell me how cute my outfit was. strangers. men and women. i'm very confused. they also keep commenting on my hair, which is just a slightly grown out version of the bright auburn it's been for the last SIX MONTHS. apparently, today, it looks different than it did yesterday.

i don't get it. i just smile and say thanks.

message 172: by Lorena (last edited Apr 29, 2008 10:37AM) (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) OH! And my personal favorite, the day you decide you can no longer manage your hair and go to get your hair cut, everyone you encounter on your way there tells you how beautiful your hair looks that day.

message 173: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) "phenomena donna"

Try saying that 5 times fast.

message 174: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 576 comments I get told I look different everytime I have my hair cut - but then I change all the time lol

message 175: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) LOL so do I Hayley, I'm running out of hair colors to try out!

message 176: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 576 comments I'm currently blonde - I think the next is wild and vivid colours but I don't think my boss would be impressed lol

message 177: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 29, 2008 11:23AM) (new)

Donna,

What is that? An instinct to pick off the weak member of the herd? Caretaking gone awry?

That's what I'm afraid of Lorena, it makes me ask uncomfortable questions about why I might be more approachable as a broken winged bird.

...are the comments that gave me that impression. Sorry if I was mistaken!

My suggestion is carry around a .22 pistol. Every time a guy approaches you, and you think he is charming, shoot him in the thigh. If he still talks to you he's a keeper. If he screams bloody murder and calls for the cops, you know he is a nancy boy and you should probably walk away... FAST.

I would also like to thank the academy, and all the supporters of this thread. This thread is the first nick thread to break 200.

Have some pastries.
Have some tea.
Deep dish pizza.
Stay a bit longer, and talk. Besides you really don't want to leave.

Amanda (randymandy) Appealing: Men who drink tea... :)

message 183: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 576 comments Its funny, what people say we should find appealing isn't always what appeals to us, how many glossy magazines tell you what you should and shouldn't like in a guy/women. When I was in my teens I dates a guy who had long hair and was lead singer of his own band - I adored him at the time but my tastes have changed somewhat and I like a guy with a bit more style and I will admit who always looks good, but that doesn't mean if I meet the right guy, who wasn't as I described above, I wouldn't date him - that would be shallow.
