Hey Jerry. Welcome to the group. Congrats on building your own website. I am quite ignorant of HTML and flash and all things web-ish.... so I think it's wonderful when people can create their own stuff online.
Good luck with the book. What authors inspire you? Who do you enjoy reading?

Fav authors? I spend about all my time writing. Started reading "Beloved" by Toni Morrison a couple months ago. Really enjoy it but reading a whole chapter at once is kind of a luxury. I've spent 14 hrs on the computer today just trying to update links, answer email, post to groups, work on my website and keep track of the "clicks" in my Goodreads ad program. Advise: if you really like to read, actively writing while working full time is not going to make you happy. Most of what I read/write is self improvement stuff and most of that is Christian based. Guess I'm kind of boring, but that's my addiction.
JL: Hi, My name is Jerry and I am addicted to writing.
GR: Hi, Jerry
JL: This is my story. I'm a "retired" UMC pastor so I write a lot of God stuff. I also teach English in an alternative high school because I keep running out of money before I run out of month. (Christmas Break ends tonight, GRRRRR! AARRRRG!)
My book started out as a collection of sermons that somehow came to life and began replicating itself. I actually finished the book 3 or 4 times, but every time I mentioned that the book was ready to publish, God would say, "Well, what you have is pretty good, Jerry, but why don' you just add a little bit about......," and there we go again. I finally asked him if I could quit, and He didn't say anything, so took that to be a "Yes." Only problem is that He keeps giving more stuff to think about and write down. I've got more stuff to write now than when I "finished" the book. Good thing I'm addicted, huh?
My profile has my website and blog IRLs and I also write for Faithwriters.com and am into Facebook and Twitter. Just type Pastor Jerry L. Lewis into Google using quotes. Once Google listed 6 pages of hits on me. Problem is that if a pastor really messes up, it will be more like double or triple what it was before.
I built the website for free and it costs about $15 a year to run. Go check it out, and if anyone is interested in how to do the same and teach the Search Engines how come back often, let me know and I'll maybe start a thread/folder thingy with what I've learned.
Thanks for letting me into the group. Hopefully we can inspire each other.
Peace, love, and joy, Jerry.
