JQ What is the deal with the time line of this book? It makes no sense. When is it supposed to be taking place - contemporary as to when it was written? If so, then this author is way off on her dates and that is just sloppy writing. She writes that the character Brian Beezer is 18 years old. She writes that his parents returned to Lumby in 1975 when he was "young". That would make him at least 30 years old in 2005, when the book is published. That's a glaring mistake. If the book is supposed to be taking place in 1993, then there are other mistakes because if memory serves, cell phones & lap tops were not commonplace in 1993. I do think 2005 is the time setting of the book given what she writes of the time line of the Montis Abbey. So what is up with that? It has really taken me "out of" the book & that is all I can think about at this point. Or am I missing something? Anyone? Anyone?

Sarah Initially I had the same problem when I read it a few years ago. I sent an email to the author through her website and she said that is was a typo - should have been 1985. I put the book at around 2001-2002 and everything else seemed to fit. It didn't ruin the read for me, though.
