Rosana | 599 comments Disgrace would work well for me in that late march time period. I am on vacation from March 10-20 and will plan to bring Disgrace and Go Down, Moses with me.

Al, what if we set on Disgrace then? With a a starting date of March 20th. What you and everyone else wanting to read with us think of it?

March 20th for a discussion of Disgrace sounds great to me.

Carol | 7657 comments Oh good. That book is so good. I am almost finished. I am looking forward to the discussion.

Sheila | 2155 comments Barb, I'm reading the ebook of the Book Thief
Al, I'll add Brooklyn to my wish list

Morgan Tuohy | 5 comments I'm actually planning on reading a lot of non-fiction this year, which is new for me. I used to crave fiction only and constantly. I've already started off with some books on public speaking and conversation, plus The Story of French by Jean-Benoit Nadeau and Julie Barlow, which is great so far.

After I get through the pile I'm currently reading all at once, I'm going to dig into John Lennon: The Life by Philip Norman, which I bought months ago. I'm very surprised with myself that I didn't consume it immediately.

Of course I'll be reading plenty of fiction in between everything. I think I want to read all of Neil Gaiman this year.

Al (allysonsmith) | 1101 comments ok, so capitu and I have both read Brooklyn and Disgrace - both books I enjoyed and am glad I had the push to read them.

Do you still want to try for Blood Meridian: Or the Evening Redness in the West and The Bone People?

I am up for both - let's just figure out the timing.

Carol | 7657 comments Blood Meridian would be a good one to discuss. But then so would The Bone People. I read Blood Meridian but not The Bone People.

message 110: by Rosana (new)

Rosana | 599 comments Al, it was fun to check that list. I think I have been reading so much less this year compared to other years, but actually I only have “The Bone People” and “Blood Meridian” unread. I would love to read them with you, my problem is that I can not commit to any time line right now.

My summer has been crazy, but we are still in the middle of some house renovations, harvest is just around the corner and apparently I am running a combine, and my sisters and I have a trip planed for the end of September. Could we talk about it again in October?

Al (allysonsmith) | 1101 comments Capitu:

We can totally revisit this in Oct. - I have plenty of things to read (starting with the 8 library books on my bedside table).

And I have no issues with waiting until next year. I just thought of revisiting this once you posted today about Brooklyn.

And Carol it would be great to have you and anyone else join us when we do read and discuss.

Carol | 7657 comments I ordered The Bone People from B&N. I have been wanting to read it. I got Blood Meridian from library so I will have to see when the time comes whether to order it or get from library.

Carol, after you read The Bone People, please tell me what happened in the end. I can be so dense at times and miss subtle things. After you read the book, I'll tell you what some people say happened, though I don't buy it. But of course I could be wrong.
