Alexia I love you!!! Well not really, but I love people who LOVE Everwood! I was looking for other Everwood lovers on the tv thread with no takers. I just saw at Target today they are selling the first season of Everwood for $10 -- everyone needs to spend a ten spot and get the first season and watch it. Hate me if you hate it, but you won't! And Alexia - I also really like Meg Cabot. I think we are going to get along just fine (especially if you are team Peeta). Oh, any by the way, WELCOME!
Welcome, Susan and Alexia!
Susan - Oh to work in a book store! Please tell me it's not as fun as it sounds. It seems like a dream job!
Alexia - I love you too but because you love Twilight! ;)

Heidi, I didn't know you liked Everwood. I got addicted to it b/c of a friend in college. We would have tv nights n the dorms and she got me into it. I didn't watch much after Bright graduated though. So I also watched 2 seasons I guess. But it was good, and set in Colorado my homeland of mountains and hippies! You can't go wrong with that.
So both Heidi and Jaimie mentioned something about intense arguments. Can anyone recap some of these epic battles for me? Hopefully I'll be able to jump in on the next frenzy. Welcome to the other newbies. Looks like this group is growing fast!
Jason, check out The Hunger Games thread if you want to see the intense arguments. I think the Team Gale vs. Team Peeta debate is still ongoing. :)
Brittany - isn't Everwood great? So if you only watched season 1 & 2 you missed out on Bright and Hannah?? Or Ephram having a break down?? Good times. For some reason The WB has their head up their butt and only reased season one on DVD until recently when they finally released season 2 a couple months ago. I may OR may not have bought someones burned copies of seasons 2-4 just so I could watch the whole thing. I plead the 5th on that.

There's also the Kindle vs. real book debate. Ok so maybe they aren't the best arguments. We're willing to accept ideas for battles. Of course, I'll always be on Team Win no matter what.

Oh Jason, be careful what you ask for. I'm not sure we want to re-hash some of those. Welcome btw. I look forward to hearing your opinions (as long as you agree with me 100% of the time (j/k) )
Well it's always good to hear there's some live bodies in the room. That's way better than a bunch of people whose opinions are about as bland as tofu. Literature and reading is something to get up in arms about! And it's a great contradiction: a solitary activity like reading and wanting to run out and broadcast your opinions about it to the world.
Thanks for the comments everyone!
And there is rarely anything I think worth getting up in arms about more so than a really bad book or a really good book.
Hey, my name is Amber. I'm a teenager. I just joined this group a few minutes ago. I just joined Goodreads today, actually, so I'm new to the site as well as this group. My favorite types of YA literature are fantasy, horror and mystery. Nice to meet you all, this seems like a pretty good group.
Hi Amber, welcome to YA and to Goodreads. We aren't just a pretty good group, we are the BEST group. What are you reading right now other than homework stuff.
I've also heard that Shiver is good. I'm still debating if it's worth getting in hardcover or should I want for it to come out in paperback.
Hi, I'm Kourtni and I'm 22. I just came accross this website yesterday when I was bored and googling at work and I joined this group today. I always feel so guilty reading YA, like I should be interested in more adult reads, but I genuinely enjoy it more than anything else! Anyhoo, this group looks great!
Hello Kourtni! Don't feel bad about reading YA, I am 30ish (hey I'm still in my 30's!) and I love YA.

Welcome to both Kourtni and Amber... I hope you are both ready for you TBR pile to explode... because it will.
No kidding about the tbr pile, and you shouldn't feel guilty reading good literature regardless of who it was "written for".
Oh I feel like my TBR pile is already overwhelming! I am so far behind in my reading. I need to hit up Amazon!
Hello! I need some advice on my next book buy. I am re-reading twilight for the 7th or 8th time (I lose track) just for something to read. I was thinking about The Vampire Academy series or The Hunger Game series??? Or maybe Shiver? Any thoughts or other recommendations?
Hunger Games is a big favorite across the board here and so is Shiver. I personally liked Vampire Academy because I think the main character is a cute little badass but not as many supporters as for the other two.
Thanks! I think I will go for Hunger Games first. I wish I had enough money to buy them all. I read them faster than I can afford them. :/
No problem, we are all addicts here. I try to supplement my book buying habit with my local library you may be suprised at how much YA they have there.

Welcome Kourtni! :) Yeah, don't feel bad about reading YA. You'll find lots of fellow YA fans here and age doesn't matter. As for recommendations, I recommend second the Hunger Games recommendation as well as Graceling. Also if you're a huge vampire fan, you should definitely check out Vampire Academy. It's better than Twilight because it has a strong female protagonist.
Where are our resident Twilight lovers? I wonder if Shannen is aware that you guys are bashing her beloved??
Oh Peep. Why are you spoiling the fun? Party pooper. Or is it Party Peeper. Get it? Ha! I crack myself up.
rofl! I was wondering the same thing though, and there are several others who I know would step up and defend the series that shall not be named if they saw this.
Now everyone- just because Twilight is treated the same as He-Who-Can-Not-Be Named from the Harry Potter series, some of us still enjoyed it:) (Well, except that piece of you know what Breaking Dawn...)
I am still stuck wondering why Peep is the great defender of the series? Hmmmm... I think she has a secret. p.s. Jess - can you believe they want to make Breaking Dawn into two movies? How horrid!
defender of which series? From what I've gathered Peep detests Twilight and subsequent books. I'm not going to bother to see any of the movies, so I couldn't care less how many they are making. As far as I'm concerned, the books and the first movie were a total waste of my life.

I really enjoy the Hunger Games series, I actually use a little white out pen, go through and take out everything that I find objectionable and then read it with my two oldest sons, 11 and 10. They both love them, too and we are all anxiously awaiting Mocking Jay to be released this fall. As far as Shiver goes, it was an insanely romantic book, but you should know that if reading about teen sex bothers you (or any sex), you should skip it. It does bother me, and I wish I had known that before I started reading it. B/c by the time I got there I couldn't put the book down.
Haven't read the Vampire Academy series, but think I may at some point.

YA is for the young at heart.

I know she dislikes the series that shall not be named too!

Wow Susan works in a bookstore. Talk about a fox guarding the hen house. Do you EVER bring home a paycheck..."
When I first started, 12 years ago, my husband swore I worked for books, because YES a good chunk went right back to the store. Then I discovered that I didn't have as much time to read, so the TBR stack was getting out of control. I'm now "down" to about 250 on the TBR. I try to just buy the "gotta haves", and leave the others on the "want to read" list. I started using paperbackswap.com to trade for the books I want, which makes it a little easier on the checkbook....
