Gwendolyn smiled when she saw her guest, "Ariana," she said, hooking her arm through the younger girl's, "How are you? I hope you are enjoying your stay."
"And everybody's been treating you well? My brother especially?" Gwen said with a knowing smile.
Gwen giggled along with her, "No seriously, you should consider him! Unless there's someone else you're considering," said Gwen wriggling her eyebrows suggestively.
Gwen smiled, "Then will you take a private supper with him tonight? He's been dying to ask you, but is far too bashful to go through with it."
Tristan was walking through the garden just up ahead.
"Or better yet, you can tell him yourself!" squealed Gwen.
"Or better yet, you can tell him yourself!" squealed Gwen.
"Yes,"said Tristan, picking a pink rose off of the bush he was standing beside, "for you, my lady," he held the flower out to her, "watch out for thorns."
"The gardens can wait, but your preparations can't! Tell me, have you ever worn a corset?" asked Gwen, clutching Ari's arm as they started walking towards the castle.
"Something nice," said Gwen, "How about this?" she asked, holding up a dress of sky blue silk, "Or this?" she said, holding up a yellow floral dress with an enormous skirt.
"Good choice," said Gwen, handing the dress to her, and rummaging around for a corset in her drawers.
"Pin it up, I've no taste for all of these sloppy looking hair styles the 'modern' girls are wearing. Properly pinned is the best," said Gwen, still searching.
"Here, let me help you," said Gwen, abandoning the search for the moment and taking the job over from Ari.
"Your welcome," said Gwen before finally finding the corset, "Ah, here it is! Take these and put them on," Gwen instructed Ariana, handing her the dress, corset, and a crinoline, "I'll let you lace yourself in, you shouldn't put it too tight on your first try."
"Not that you really needed it, of course," said Gwen with a kind smile, "Now, do you want to try some of my new rouge and kohl and lipstick? Imported straight from France!" said Gwen.
((btw kohl=eye liner and rouge=blush))

Gwen applied the make-up to Ari's face, before touching up her own, "I've got lot's of spare time on my hands, ever since the Duke ditched me for that Finnish Countess. I'm nearly too old to marry now, but making you and my brother work together is a nice distraction," said Gwen with a small smile.
"Well, I'm already over 20. Victoria Delacoeur already has three daughters and she's only 21. And my suitor's aren't exactly knocking the door down anymore," she said with a weary shrug.
"It's just natural," said Gwendolyn, absent mindedly fixing a wrinkle on the front of her dress.
Alex skipped out of the castle into the garden.
Alex got bored and walked up to her sister, Gwen's room. She knocked on the door lightly and walked in, "You look beautiful Ariana"
"Alex, you know you're supposed to wait for someone to give you permission to come in," scolded Gwen.
"Sorry Gwen" She sat on Gwen's bed. Alex's hair was hanging over her shoulders. She knew that Gwen hated the modern things that people do like that. Alex ignored Gwen's complaints about it though.
"It's alright," she sighed and then noticed Alex's hair, "What are you doing running around like that? You look like a raggamuffin," groaned Gwen.
"I hate pinning my hair up, I just HATE it!!" Alex complained.
"Well that's just to darn bad," said Gwen, hands on her hips, "now sit still so I can do it for you!"
"NOOO!!!" Alex screamed. She ran out of Gwen's room.
Gwen laughed, "That little brat," she said, shaking her head.
Tristan looked down when someone bumped into him. Alex. "What exactly are you running from?" he asked his little sister, "A dragon?"

"Gwen, she is trying to pin up my hair" Alex groaned.
"I don't like my hair pinned up!" Alex said.
"Yes, you used to run around with the servant boys like a commoner," Gwen recalled with a laugh, "it was absolutely ghastly."
