LOL It's always nice to learn new things.

Guess what I did? My mom decided she'd have me drive us around tonight, my first time every driving in the snow, and you know our driveway, how it's a giant hill, with that tree on the side? Yeah, well, I had to drive backwards, so I ended up going backwards down the hill and hitting the front end of the car into the tree. We have a nice two-foot dent in the front now. And a few scratches. Nice, huh?

yikes. that's unfortunate... I was driving today too, but I was on the main roads. And my first time driving in the snow was a week or two ago.

But it could have been worse. One of my friends totaled a car because some other person who had just gotten her permit blew through a stop sign and hit him. He was okay though, even though the car wasn't.

Well, I drove on the main roads afterward. And then we had to stop at my mom's friends house, so that we could return something, and she HAD to share the story. He took some pictures.

Where'd you go today?

Ooh, that's messy. Did his insurance cover the damages and help pay for a new car?

Veronica (v_a_b) | 182 comments Mod
I dunno anything about what happened with insurance or not...

And I went to one of those self storage places. My dad needed to pay the rent for the one that we have.

Oh, okay. :D

Storage places? Like the ones for when you're moving, that you rent to store things while you're switching between homes?

message 106: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 182 comments Mod
rent to store things. But we aren't moving. We just have a bunch of stuff from my grandparents.

I hope you aren't moving. :D It's better to have the stuff out of the house, then cluttering stuff up.

Brigid, wish I was there. I don't like the cold weather. It feels so harsh. But I'm sure you have it there, as well. Here in Kentucky, the weather varies so much--50 degrees turns to 20 degrees at night, for example--that I feel it's playing tricks on us. But, unexpectedly long rain showers and spitting snow do make it easier to write!

Good luck this year!

message 121: by Amy (new)

Amy (runawaymarbles) | 400 comments We don't get that varied weather. Lowest has been in teh 20s a few weeks ago, no snow yet.

My friend, wakes up to go to the bus stop in like -20 degree weather. But it's warming up. Only a little, and then we get more, and more, and more snow, and it drops. ugh. I hate winter.

message 124: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 182 comments Mod
haha, that seems fairly typical of Michigan... 20 to 30 degree temp drop at night. Sometimes it doesn't change much though.

message 125: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 814 comments lol. I heard this song today that actually had the lyrics "I hate the winter in Lexington" in it … idk if it was about Lexington, MA but I was still like "Hey, me too!" haha XD

message 126: by Paige (new)

Paige Miller | 672 comments *giggles* ^^ Nice. I always wanted to write a song ranting about the perils of a state where we're stuck in a "75 degrees and sunny" forecast for the whole entire year.

message 127: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 142 comments We seem to have very short memories for weather here in Sweden. Every year when the snow comes and the cold sets in, the people arranging public transport are shocked and bewildered about the strange white stuff. :)

we got more SNOW! GAH! Utah has the strangest weather.

Paige Miller | 672 comments It's actually been raining here on the W.C. a lot lately.... in fact, we had a real honest-to-goodness tornado the other day. It was really exciting. Everyone freaked out.

message 133: by Malin (new)

Malin (tusenord) We got 2 feet of snow and -21C this morning. You have to beware when walking by houses because you risk getting 3-4 feet of pointed icicles on your head. There are still cars that can't get out their parking lots.

I love winter. :D

message 134: by Callie (new)

Callie (neverlandcallie) wow, sounds like something I can relate to. :D

message 135: by Malin (new)

Malin (tusenord) Getting a serious winter is a bit like stepping into a fantasy world. Things are different, dangerous and a little magical.

message 136: by Callie (new)

Callie (neverlandcallie) I totally agree!

message 137: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 142 comments Wouldn't icicles make a very nice murder weapon? For a story that is. At least if you bring it inside and all you're left with is an innocent pool of water by the victim.

Teresa: That sounds very cool, but I doubt that it would work. Ice isn't sharp enough to pierce skin, as far as I'm aware. You could knock somebody out with an icicle though

I'm sure you're right, but even if it wouldn't make a good sharp object, could it still be used as a bludgeon maybe?

message 140: by Malin (new)

Malin (tusenord) But if you sharpen the icicle yourself?

message 141: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 142 comments Ah, much better! I wonder if it would be strong enough or if it would be too brittle?

message 142: by Malin (new)

Malin (tusenord) I would think that a real sharp object should work even if brittle - a thin glass shard can kill someone, right?

message 143: by Anne (new)

Anne (mekone) | 142 comments Yes, and of course I don't have to assume the killer is clumsy and drops things. ;)

message 144: by Malin (new)

Malin (tusenord) Wait. Who are you going to kill? *suspicious look*
