Haha, very sweet of you but nope. Can't let the foreign devils get their claws in our...english...book...market?

Beth Larabee | 52 comments I received a giftcard to B&N, PW's cookbook and Michael Buble's Biography. I just adore that man!

message 53: by Wendy-Lynn (new)

Wendy-Lynn No books under the tree, but a few gift cards to Borders which is just as good. Now, I can go at my leisure and pick out whatever I want.

I agree, White Oleander is fantastic! I must have re-read it at least 5 times throughout my older teen years.

Karla (bookarita) | 85 comments Glad to hear White Oleander is well liked makes me even more happy with my gifts :)

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Karla, I found White Oleander to be one of the best descriptive books I've ever read - vivid yet not to the point of wordiness.

I was able to pick up Kate Jacobs' "Knit The Season" today at our library today for $3! Brand new hard back! Someone in our boro buys A Lot of new books (in hardcover) and then donates them for the library sale when they've finished! Whomever she is, I love her for it, lol!

The 19th Wife is a fascinating book! I really enjoyed it.

I got The Left-Handed History of the World from my mother in law. Obviously because I'm left-handed. Haven't started it yet.

Wendy (nljerseygirl) | 26 comments I got 4 books for Christmas, 3 from my Husband and one from my sister...I've finished two already!
They were:
Flapper: A Madcap Story of Sex, Style, Celebrity, and the Women Who Made America Modern by Joshua Zeitz
The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible As Literally As Possible by A.J. Jacobs
Sylvanus Now: A Novel by Donna Morrissey
and
Down to the Dirt by Joel Thomas Hynes

Down to the Dirt was ok, it had a a lot of dialogue and I don't like a lot of dialogue, and Flapper is a great social history, I really enjoyed it!
