Michael (michaeljsullivan) After just one year (original release October 1, 2008), my book The Crown Conspiracy has sold out of the first print run. The sales accelerated exponentially toward the end of 2009 catching the publisher, Aspirations Media, Inc. off guard.

AMI is planning a second printing and anticipates books will be back in the supply chain by Mid-March 2010. In the meantime I'll make availalbe the few hundred books in my "private stash" for purchasing since Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, and all other channels are now out of stock and likely won't be refilled until Mid March 2010.

THEY KILLED THE KING. THEY PINNED IT ON TWO MEN. THEY CHOSE POORLY.
There is no ancient evil to defeat, no orphan destined for greatness, just two guys in the wrong place at the wrong time. Royce Melborn, a skilled thief, and his mercenary partner, Hadrian Blackwater make a profitable living carrying out dangerous assignments for conspiring nobles until they become the unwitting scapegoats in a plot to murder the king. Sentenced to death, they have only one way out...and so begins this epic tale of treachery and adventure, sword fighting and magic, myth and legend.

ABOUT THE SERIES
The Crown Conspiracy is the third book in the captivating Riyria Revelations. Instead of a string of sequels this six-book fantasy series was conceived as a single epic tale divided into individual episodes. All were written before the first was released so that plot elements are intertwined, yet each book has its only story and conclusion.

There actually are signed/numbered/limited edition hardcovers of all three books - but they are, as expected expensive - I think $28.95 each. If you are interested message me with an email and I can get you setup. Current numbers copies are 6/100 for all three books - though you don't have to buy them in sets if you don't want to.

Susan.

Marc (authorguy) | 393 comments Why would it change the price, or make it more expensive? I've been hand-selling my books for years, and many people have expressed surprise that I would insist on signing the book before I let it leave my table. Wouldn't any author sign the book, simply as an expression of gratitude to the person who did him the favor of buying it?

Michael (michaeljsullivan) Marc wrote: "Why would it change the price, or make it more expensive? I've been hand-selling my books for years, and many people have expressed surprise that I would insist on signing the book before I let it..."

I've never charged for signing a book, and signed books never cost more than unsigned.

The price change Susan is referring to is the increased cost of printing a limited-run hard cover edition, which at nearly $29 dollars isn't really all that out of the ordinary as far as new release hard covers go, but compared to the trade paperback it seems that way.

As most people will buy the paperback or the Kindle, there's no point in doing a mass printing in hard cover. At the moment only book collectors and those who really feel strongly about the books or hard covers bother to order them.

I personally have a set, (that I had to pay for) and they are very nice, printed at 6 x 9 and set in a larger font with luxurious line spacing and they lay open to nearly any page without needing to be held--which I find useful. The book jackets came out nice as well, but unfortunately, without the jackets the plain covers are not very nice, they're well...plain.

So the hard covers are expensive but the same price with or without a signature.

Ridan Sorry for the misunderstanding Marc, I was only talking about hardcovers, which as Michael pointed out are much more expensive to produce then paperbacks so that is why they are more.

Any Ridan book purchased directly through our Website (www.ridanpublishing.com) can be signed and there is never any price different one way or the other.

Some of the Ridan authors also offer copies from their sites, and while technically they "could" charge more - none of them do.

I process a lot of "direct buy" orders we offer:

a) Unsigned
b) Signed - Author's signature
c) Signed with dedication

I'm always surprised when someone specifies unsigned as if you "could" get a book signed why wouldn't you? I even send emails to make sure that is what they wanted and sometimes they just messed up the order but other times they really want them "untouched"

I think in general, the "fans" want it dedicated. People who might later ebay want author signature only. -- Yes I've seen a few signed copies on Ebay - don't quite understand that when you can get them direct from author signed but they do it from time to time.

Susan.

Marc (authorguy) | 393 comments I don't usually dedicate them since I do occasionally see them in used bookstores and elsewhere. It's like that scene from Notting Hill, where the bookstore owner mentions that one author signed everything. "Couldn't stop him, really. If you can find an unsigned one it's worth an absolute fortune." My books are like that, since the majority of the books out there are sold by me personally, so most of them are signed.

My publisher just sent me a contract for my latest WIP, a werewolf adventure called St. Martin's Moon. Has a few conditions I'm less than happy about.

message 11: by brian (new)

brian tanabe Congratulations, Michael. I am a new fan. With the help of Susan I just ordered the series in hardcover.

If you dont mind me asking, how many in the first run of the book (in paperback)?

message 12: by Michael (new)

Michael (michaeljsullivan) The first printing of Crown was two-thousand, and a hundred some odd due to a typical press overrun. That however doesn't include the kindles and eBooks.

Hope you enjoy the new books!

message 13: by brian (new)

brian tanabe Thanks, Michael - I foresee many printings for the Crown Conspiracy.

And I absolutely cannot wait for my hardcovers to arrive!

message 14: by Amelia (new)

Amelia (narknon) I just got the set of paperbacks that I ordered. They look great! Thanks for the dedication. I'm looking forward to the read.
