Books that Changed Our Lives discussion
What books do you go back to again and again?

When you open my books you will see dates, comments and highlighted pages. When I read something for the first, second, third and beyond time, I always date it.
Sometimes I just go straight to the highlighted parts to see where my mind was at when read it last.
Old friends....
Jonathan Livingston Seagull and Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Basically True Story immediately spring to mind. When life is darkest, they remind me that I am not described by my current circumstances, but by how I approach life.
In a similar vein, Stranger in a Strange Land is one of the books I find myself quoting over and over again. I no longer read this book, I just flip to the parts that seem salient to however I'm feeling when I pick it up.
I'm sure there are others that will come to me as I bump into them on my shelves.

For me, it's the Merlin Trilogy by Mary Stewart--The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills, The Last Enchantment, The Wicked Day. Yes, it's a trilogy with four books.
I can't count the number of times these four old friends have helped me come back to myself.
Who are your old friends?
