Hello everyone :)I was invited to the group from Dustin over a year ago (sorry!) from an unfavorable if not amazing review of Relentless left by Maciek.
I'd have to say that The Husband is one of my favorites, that and a toss between Relentless. I always say that if anyone else wrote the way Dean Koontz did they wouldn't get away with it, but despite that, or maybe because of that I still love him.
Thanks for telling me about the group :)

I did read one or two Pendergast novels and was impressed. I might try the series again sometime :-)

Hey everyone. My name is Mike and I have been a fan of Koontz since I first read Watchers in 7th grade. I have been obsessed with his supernatural thrillers but want to start reading his suspense thrillers. I am torn between The Key to Midnight and Dark Rivers of the Heart. Which one should I read first? Which one do you think is better?Pleasant Reading.
Mike

Hi. I'm Shay from California. I have been a Koontz fan for more years the I want to admit. Just let me say my 20 so etching daughters grew up watching me clutching Koontz books in my hands. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say Life Expectency, but then I could also go with Strangers. Regardless, I love the Koontz characters. I love the interaction between characters. He puts people in such crazy situations and you truly see the humanity an the lack there of.
Anyway, I look forward to sharing in this forum.
Hello Mike and Shay. For as many books I've read, as I read these posts, their r as many books I can not wait to read. This is one of the one of my favorite features of this goup. Hearing about books I haven't read as well as books I've read from people that have the same reading preferences as myself. Love scary so Dark Rivers of the Heart is very appealing. Of course this will be after Swan Song and The Watchers. I'm in this book club along with my personal book club made up of all these other books. Welcome to the club and I want to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge and insight which I benefit from.

Courtney.....there are so many Koontz books to choose from you really can't pick a bad one....start with Watchers and Phantoms and work your way forward from them!!!
Well....you can find a bad one, but that will depend on taste. Look through the synopses and then maybe some reviews. Find someone whose taste you "mostly" agree with and go with a book they like.
You are right Mike....some of his early books are just so-so.....I can't think of any that are really "bad" though. I really didn't like False Memory....it was just depressing....but I know people who liked it so...yes....tastes are different
Yeah. He has some books I list among my favorites but others that I truly dislike. I think one of the reasons I get so upset at some is because some are so good. An example of one I truly dislike is Your Heart Belongs to Me. I'm a fan of what some have called "the new Koontz" (referring to some of his latest books)...but not all. LOL.

Mike....I wasn't crazy about Your Heart Belongs to Me either.....I will always read whatever he writes....a true fan does lol.... I also love Stephen King....he has disappointed me many more times than DK has!! Dustin....all this talk of Cold Fire has made me want to read it again !! It has been years since I read it and I realize I can't remember it very well. :-)

I like One Door Away From Heaven also. I got me two tattoos from that bookcover back in 2011. I have the phrase "One Door Away From Heaven" tattooed on my left arm and I have the lantern hanging from a branch on my right arm. I still think One Door Away From Heaven is the most originally titled Koontz book - so mysterious :-)

Dustin that is a great tribute to DK and one of his best books....I agree the title is very meaningful and the story has so many layers
Well, I've been lurking around for awhile and feel like I can't post till I introduce myself, so here goes. :) I'm Denise. I'm from Southern California. I've been a Dean Koontz fan since I was about 15. :) Some of my faves include Life Expectancy, Strangers, and Odd Thomas. :) Nice to "meet" you all! :)
Welcome Denise this is a great group, I would like to re read cold fire, I can only remember parts of the story I read it years ago but I remember one part gave me a shiver down my spine and it's not often a book has that effect.
