Werner | 1726 comments Surprisingly, given the fact that this is a fairly popular motif in modern literature, Goodreads hasn't (up to now) had any lists for this type of fiction. I just started the list Books With Action Heroines. So you're all invited, if you want to, to vote on or add appropriate books that you've read (or any that you've written). The link is:

Nomad | 24 comments Wow! What an all encompassing list. It's going to take me a very long time to read up on all these books and make my choices.

But the work will be fun.

message 3: by Werner (new)

Werner | 1726 comments Glad you found that list, Nomad! I meant to include the link in an earlier post, but forgot to look it up (I don't know it by heart) until I was already typing the post --and if you go elsewhere on the site to look for something while you're typing a post, the program sometimes erases everything you've typed. :-(

Werner | 1726 comments I just updated the title of this thread, to broaden its scope from a single list to any Goodreads lists that may help readers locate action heroines in books. Jon suggested that another list which may be worthwhile in that regard is Best "Strong Female" Fantasy Novels (www.goodreads.com/list/show/1023.Best... ). Having voted on that list, I'm familiar with it also. Of course, it's limited to the fantasy genre; and not all strong heroines demonstrate their strength though physical action. But often they do; so that list includes a high percentage of books of interest to this group.

Jon Abbott | 297 comments Thanks for moving this thread, Werner. I added a few books to the Strong Females in Fantasy Novels list.

message 7: by Werner (new)

Werner | 1726 comments Sounds good, Jon!

message 8: by Pamela (new)

Pamela | 36 comments Since these have been voted on. How do you add new books. ?

message 9: by Werner (new)

Werner | 1726 comments Pamela, good question! When you bring up the list, right under the name and description at the top, there's a link for "Add books to the list." Click on that, and it'll take you to a page with a search function; you can either search by title/author or browse your own bookshelves for books to add.

Welcome to the group, by the way! It's great to see you jumping right in and posting. (I haven't read anything myself in any of the series with tough female detectives that you mentioned on that thread, though I've heard of some of them; but I'll definitely keep them in mind.)

P. Pherson | 87 comments I was not able to add my own book to the list. I would appreciate if someone could add my book, The Eye of Ebon, to the list.

The Eye of Ebon

Thanks

Werner | 1726 comments Patrick, you succeeded better than you thought you did! Your book actually is on our list, here: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books... .

Theodore B. Ayn (thecafezilprotonmailcom) | 7 comments Hi Werner, I hope you're well. It's been awhile since you last posted. Would you be able to add my books to the list. Here's one for starters. Thanks!

message 13: by Werner (new)

Werner | 1726 comments Yes, Theodore, I'm well, but my home computer isn't connecting to the Internet right now, so I'm not able to post from home. :-( I'm at work at the moment, and on my lunch break.

I'm not really comfortable adding books to a list unless I've read them myself. Perhaps you could message any fellow Goodreader who's read your books and liked them, and send him/her the link to the list, with a request to add them for you? (My understanding is that, as the author, the program won't let you add them yourself.)

message 14: by Werner (new)

Werner | 1726 comments Theodore, while I think of it, don't forget to add your e-stories to our group's bookshelf, here: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books... . (We have a customized shelf for writing by group members.)

You're welcome! By way of update, I was intrigued enough by your post above to check out your author page at Amazon, and noticed that Barefoot and Unbroken: Taking a Rivalry Off The Field is free for Kindle. Right now, my kindle app is in limbo; I recently installed a new home computer, but it's not connecting to the Internet. And even when I'm connected, I don't read much in electronic format (paper reads fit into my schedule better). But when I get a functioning Kindle app again, I do plan to download that story, and will get to it when I can.

Theodore B. Ayn (thecafezilprotonmailcom) | 7 comments Hi Werner,

I am so sorry to report that I cancelled the free promotion on Barefoot and Unbroken yesterday. Had I known of your interest in the book, I surely would not have done so. The promotion was not yielding any results whatsoever so I thought it best to terminate it early.

I do plan to post a free book promotion on my latest novella, Stepping Outside. This will happen soon, and if you’re interested, I can let you know directly.

I also noticed on your profile that you are an evangelical Christian. Me too! I write for, and administrate, two websites, www.fojlv.org and www.odmlv.org. My pastor, Fernando Basilio, is a contributor to the fojlv.org site. Another very close friend of mine, Pastor Terry Austin is a contributor to the odmlv.org site. If you get a chance (I know you’re busy!), please check out those sites.

Theodore

Werner | 1726 comments That's all right about "Barefoot and Unbroken," Theodore; thanks for letting me know! Yes, do give me a heads-up when the free book promotion for Stepping Outside is live. (Hopefully my wi-fi access will be cooperating by then. :-) ) I'd be equally interested in any of your three stories.

Always glad to (electronically) "meet" a fellow believer! Thanks for the links, and I'll check them out when time (and technology) allows.

Theodore B. Ayn (thecafezilprotonmailcom) | 7 comments Hi Werner,

Just letting you know, as promised, that Stepping Outside just started a 3-day free promotion on KDP. Here’s the link for your convenience: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FB8JBNYZ

Emma | 3 comments I downloaded your book, Theodore - it was a great read! I enjoyed it.

message 21: by Theodore (new)

Theodore B. Ayn (thecafezilprotonmailcom) | 7 comments Thank you so much, Emma. I greatly appreciate the positive feedback!

message 22: by Werner (new)

Werner | 1726 comments Thanks, Theodore! I've just added the story to my to-read shelf; but I just realized that, since I've been mostly offline since June 15 (we have family visiting from Australia --but they're making a side trip to Natural Bridge State Park for three days), I didn't see your message until the three-day window had expired. :-( But I'll download the story tonight anyway (right now, I'm at work, and my Kindle app is on my home computer).

Theodore B. Ayn (thecafezilprotonmailcom) | 7 comments Hi Werner! I just activated a new 2-day promotion on Stepping Outside. It runs from 6/25 to 6/26. Hopefully, you'll be able to take advantage of it.
