What have you learned from failure? "magic kittens"

I've learned that failure - real or imagined - can be kept at bay temporarily by spending a night at a bar with either: A) a great jukebox, or B) a band of garage avengers onstage willing to drag their amps around and play "Land of 1,000 Dances" to a bunch of lushes, and drinking until they start clicking the lights on and off.

I hope so, anyways, because I just screwed up the Magic Kitten books by making them series, even though they're all by the same author and don't need to be in the series shelves to stay together. As Raina pointed out. Oops.
I've also learned that if you don't get something right the first try, don't give up. Keep trying, and you'll get better. Like when I'm learning a song on the piano. I am NOT a good sight-reader. I learn painstakingly slow. No, don't listen to me practice, please!

except my failure at college, so far, nothing good has come out of that, im still pissed about it.. but i guess thats because i only partially blame myself, and partially blame others.. i have no problem if all i have to blame is myself, but if someone got in my way, it just makes me feel cheated..
school me in the ways of going to school forever RA, i wouldnt mind that if i could find the money.. i feel like ill never climb out of my mountain of debt..

Haha.
In those cases, you also don't learn... It's a tough call.
I've learned that sometimes, when you fail, you just have to keep failing harder.
Sometimes failing is amazing and you will thank someone for failing you (in my case, literally).
Sometimes it's not failure so much as there was a success that was bigger than what you were trying for.

I sent out word to everyone in youth services about my mistake, with apologies and instructions on what to do about it.
Since then:
I now know that Donna in computer services has a cat that just had kittens, and her daughters will want to read the books. I know that taking off the series stickers is a pain in the butt, and removes a lot of the sparkles on the cover. And I now know that there are also Magic Puppies and Magic Ponies series books, too. Whew!

:::hugs RA reassuringly, gives him a lollipop:::

But, if the books are all by the same author, we don't need to do that. They're going to BE together on the shelves anyways. Less work for staff that way, too.
So, I made a mistake. What we have here, in this instance, are books all by the same author. No series sticker needed. Just lots of apologies to the confused staff, and to the confused professor in Wisconsin...

Magic Kittens, Magic Kittens, Magic Kittens....
And do I have a great job, or what? :)

Magic Kittens, Magic Kittens, Magic Kittens...
I agree it is fun to say.

When I come up against something I'm unable to do, I don't call it failure, I call it practice.
Forever the optimist? You betcha!

Yeah, I get that a lot. Especially from my wife, whose attitude is a full 180 degrees from my own.

I picture a magic kitten looks something like this."
Wow! Now I know what to do with all the extra cat hair after I comb my kitties out!

HA HA HA!!! Sally, you made my day with this.
1. I've learned not to continue in jobs/professions I really hate, if I can help it, anyway.
2. I've learned that you can keep going to school pretty much forever if you like it. I screwed up both in high school and college and eventually got my crap together and did ok.
3. I've learned that just because you suck at something now doesn't mean you'll never be good at it.
4. I've learned that you really don't know who or where you'll be in a few years. I mean, you'll probably be who/where you'll think you be, but you can't be sure. So be open.
And...you?
