Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments What a coincidence - I got Death of Mrs. Westaway and Us Against You both from the library yesterday on audio. They are on deck for the next two listens. I started White Trash: The 400-Year Untold History of Class in America White Trash The 400-Year Untold History of Class in America by Nancy Isenberg but it's kind of boring so far. Linda, you read it and liked it, so should I stick with it?

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments Listening to The Perfect Couple The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand . It's been getting great reviews. So far strikes me a light summer chick-lit read with a murder thrown in. That's not to say I won't like it - even if I'm not at the beach!

Nancy Motto | 450 comments Hello Bookmarks friends
I honestly just realized that I haven't posted anything in months. I record my books on my shelves but have totally forgotten to post to this group. I've read 63 books so far this year so I'll try to post for some of the ones I really liked. The first one that comes to mind and really rang true for me is Three Things about Elsie. It's about two older (80's) women who live in an assisted living facility and a new resident moves in. They think they know him from the past but he's going by a different name so they decide to investigate. That's the story on the surface but it's really about ageing, being remembered, who we are as we age, etc. The one line that I loved was when one of the women says "my mind got up and left without me". I'm sure that's what happened to me regarding posting on this site!! Will post more books later.

Not crazy about the narrator ; he just sounds too American. Am enjoying the story though

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments Started Only Child Only Child by Rhiannon Navin on audio. This one is pretty devastating - the aftermath of a mass shooting at an elementary school told from the point of view of a 6 year old survivor of the shooting whose brother was killed.

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments I'm listening to I Have the Right To: A High School Survivor's Story of Sexual Assault, Justice, and Hope I Have the Right To A High School Survivor's Story of Sexual Assault, Justice, and Hope by Chessy Prout . I'm in New Hampshire, the home of the prestigious St Paul's, where this happened. It roiled NH and it's interesting and maddening to listen to her story at the same time that the Kavanaugh nomination circus is going on.

Nancy Motto | 450 comments Just starting Ohio by Stephen Markley I have some high hopes for this book. The language seems to be a bit overblown from what I've read so far but I'm going to stick with it.

I know, Betsy. At least the write-ups on each book are relatively short and concise and I'm reading it while the TV is on (60 Minutes, Madame Secretary). It's already adding to my undoable TBR. So many book that I've never heard of that sound interesting.

I was actually talking about the Trump book! But have the list of books on my TBR list too.

Ah. It's a sickness. I don't know why I keep doing that to myself. But I do keep learning more disgusting things about "the toddler in the Whtie House" (from Everything).
