Hi Amy, Many thanks for your kind words. I always think Great Danes are the closest I ever get to working with horses! Intimidating but invariably gentle giants. Hope you check out some of my other books. Best wishes Nick

My whole world revolves around my four dogs, ...and of course my husband! I wouldn't have it any other way!
We have one Golden Retriever and three mini, long-haired dachshunds!!

We are looking for pre-publication readers for our next book, Making The Dog Decision, to provide suggestions and feedback. (Our version of a Product Focus Group.) If any of you know people who are trying to decide about getting their very first dog, and what type of dog to get, have them contact us through the Contact Us page on our website http://www.citypetbooks.com Make sure they mention Goodreads Dogs. We will contact them to discuss the details. We do want readers who have not personally owned a dog before, but having dogs while they were growing up is just fine and would not take them out of consideration.
Our book, Training The City Dog, is available on Amazon as a "real book" and for your Kindle, on Barnes&Noble for your Nook, and in the iBookstore for your iPad. Making The Dog Decision is scheduled for publication later this year.

It's value priced at 99 cents for a limited time. Thanks for checking it out!

I have a Golden Retriever and 3 mini, long-haired dachshunds. Photos are posted on my profile also.

As a matter of fact, I love my golden so much that I've written two mystery novels in which a smart, funny golden helps his dad solve the crimes.
The first is called IN DOG WE TRUST, and in it, Steve's next door neighbor is killed while walking her golden, Rochester. He discovers the body, and then, with Rochester's help, tracks down the killer.

In the second book, THE KINGDOM OF DOG, Steve's mentor is killed at the college where they both work, and Rochester goes nose to the ground to help sniff out the dastardly villain.

These are cozy mysteries with a touch of humor and I hope that dog lovers will check them out.

Thanks Neil.

Sorry, a bit late with my Intro. I'm Tony (you'd never have guessed, hey?) and I love all things dog - well, except the wee 'presents' they sometimes leave us when alone in the house for too long.
Our family dogs are three: we've got Brandy an old lady Border-Lakeland terrier; a 100% Border terrier called Olive, and a Patterdale terrier called Denzel. As you can imagine, with three terriers in the same room, there's never a dull moment.
PS I am also the author of the new canine adventure novel: "If Only I Could Talk", which a tale ALL about dogs set half in France and half in the UK.
Glad to be here!
Tony

First, animal movies spark breeders to work on fulfilling a current demand for a specific breed of pet - check the shelters in OC California and you will find several dogs there that people got because of "Beverly hills chihuahua" and now they are dying. Why do people do this????
Second, I've just heard that breeders get a tax break. Seriously???? With all the dogs and cats suffering???
I'll get off the soapbox now. Maybe I do this to myself by crossposting on Facebook trying to save cats and dogs across America. I see too much. But I just can't let it go and honestly hope I never become sensitized to this suffering.

Oops I typed the above message but forgot to hit "reply" to yours so you might not see it...please read the post before this one, thanks :)

My name is Julia and I live in Orlando Fl.
I LOVE dogs. We used to have them all the time when I lived in NJ, but I have not had one since moving down to Fl 20 years ago. My BF does want one, but is afraid of them. I'm trying to talk him into getting one, but we also have to consider our lifestyle.
Hope to chat with you all soon.

Maybe your BF would be more comfortable with small breeds since he's scared of dogs, like a cockapoo or cavalier or havanese (or are they not "manly" enough for him)? Probably something not too hairy either since it's hot down in Florida :)

The only thing I know for sure is that if we do wind up getting a dog, we WILL NOT be purchasing from a shop. We will defintly go to a shelter or rescue.
