Are you planning on reading Pride & Prejudice & Zombies with the group in the next month?

Just for curiosity's sake.

Don't worry if you say you'll be reading it and don't there will only be group spankings upon request! :)

I'm going to be reading it soon. I have a library book or two to get through before they're due and then I'll be jumping into this one.

Shannon (theholyterror) | 132 comments I've got too many other books to read for other challenges so I'll be skipping this one. I also am not sure if I want to read the original first since I'm not really familiar with the story.

Did you know they're making a movie for this and Natalie Portman is playing the lead?

message 3: by Bri (new)

Bri I really think i will read this one, although i think i will have to read the original first to understand the story u know

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I have to read the original Pride & Prejudice first. I started it 5 months ago. Got confused so watched the library DVD of it. Read a bit more. Then put it down. Waited so long now... basically have to start over. (And I found a Cliff Notes for $1 or less about it.)

message 5: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Oops. I hadn't noticed it was a group read until tonight. I'm currently reading it--about 134 pgs. in.

message 6: by Bri (new)

Bri any good?

you wont need to read the original to understand the story its pretty straight forward.

message 8: by Bri (new)

Bri oh really? huh maybe i will just read it then
but is it good?

message 9: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (aeriga) Yea, I liked it, I really wanted to read the original, but just didn't know if I could get through it. So I tried this one, after i read the original and the best movie for it is the BBC production which is like 6 hours long but so good.

message 10: by Bri (new)

Bri thats good i think i just might try that one first then go for the original

Shay OOOPS. I started it last month and got to page 160 aprox.
Can i still be part of this group read or am i ban from it for this month?!
Can i still take part in the spanking even if im not in the group read?!
BTW - This book is soooo funny and wierd. I love it!

message 12: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Yeah, it's good, but mostly because it's a spoff off the "beloved classic novel". It's funny to know the original story (or if you've seen the 6-hr BBC movie, close enough!) and see how zombies and ninjas just creep into the Edwardian backdrop.

message 13: by Sarah (new)

Sarah And it's illustrated. :)

message 14: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (aeriga) I'm debating I got Mr. Darcy, Vampyre by Amanda Grange but I'm thinking maybe I'll reread ppz and then read it after

I'll be starting this tomorrow. I have the audiobook but I'm a little worried that it will be hard to follow if the language is like the original. We shall see...

message 16: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) I'm reading it for another challenge this month so I've just started it. Fun so far.

HA! I don't know how I missed your post but you had me giggling with it!

Of course you can be part of the group read! The more the merrier.

Spanking are upon request, but I warn you there are some bdsm fans here :) so start thinking of you safe word now :)

message 18: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I have the book on order and plan on participating. Also have her second book coming too :)

message 19: by Penny (new)

Penny | 3 comments Hi. I'm new. Anyway, I started to read this book during the summer but got halfway through this book and stopped. There's nothing wrong with it, I just got distracted with family responsiblities and forgot about it. And anyway, I've already read Pride and Prejudice without the zombies. I'm glad it is next month's book because it gives me a reason to pick it up again.

So yeah, I'll be reading in January.

message 20: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jnhart) I've already got it checked out from the library. Will probably get to it shortly after christmas.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) I read it over the summer having never read the original and was able to follow along for the most part. In the beginning there were too many characters popping in and out for me to keep straight.

That's my issue right now as well. Slowly but surely I'm getting them all straight though.

message 23: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Do you know if they are the same characters that were in the original Pride and Prejudice?

message 24: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (aeriga) They are or the most part

message 25: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Maybe I should read Jane Austen's again just to familiarize myself with the characters.

message 26: by Sarah (new)

Sarah For anyone who doesn't want to go back and read the original, the BBC movie adaptation will get you close enough to follow P&P&Z.

message 27: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. The BBC version was wonderful. The one from the 40's with Laurence Olivier was good but not true to the book, so I'd watch that for fun but not as a refresher.
