Annie (themadnessofhamsters) I know we've talked about rereads before [over here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2...]...
But I was wondering - do you consider re-reading cheating when completing a challenge?
I'm hoping you don't - cos I do a bit of it. Mainly because I can actually get to my books in my new-ish house. So, for me, it's like visiting old friends.
I try to keep it less than 50% of my challenge books - or have the monthly challenge as all new reads, and the read the month as a mixture.
Sometimes it depends how much time - and brain - I have available for that month.
What do you think?

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments I try to avoid too many re-reads. That being said, I'm currently re-reading a book now. I don't think I've used a re-read yet for the main challenge, but I'm about to do so.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) According to our moderators re-reads are fine as long as you read the book again during the time of the challenge. Ebooks, audiobooks and novella's all count as well. Some novella's are so short (especially the free ebook ones I've found online) it feels like cheating but they have said they are fine to count. Sometimes when it comes to a difficult challenge, finding a short story/novella can fill in the gaps. Even children's books count. I had to use a children's book to fill a category for the Jungle challenge as it was the only way I could find an amphibian on the book, in the title, or a main character. If you read 20+ full size books a month, then you probably don't want to use too many rereads or novella's for challenges, but if you struggle to find stuff to fit, they're perfectly legal to count according to our moderators. Kinda up to you if you want to use re-reads or not.

Kasia Re-reads are fair game (aside from the TBR challenge, but that's an exception and was explicitly stated)

Michelle (michelle_mc) | 670 comments I like to revisit my favourite books/authors/series every now and again. I do try to limit my rereads to 1 or 2 a month, mainly as my tbr is so big!

I don't feel guilty especially if it's an obscure topic or outwith my comfort zones.
