message 5: by David (new)

David (bowsertheturtle) very little but what did was kind of huge,

my mom divorced my step dad, they were married for about 13 years or so, and we moved from north eastern NJ half way across the country, and im kind of starting to freak out about that more now;

its starting to sink in that its not just a long vacation, and i have no clue about what i am supposed to be doing other then to continue to take care of my mother through her ALS..

blank slates are more scary then they first seem, at least for me, especially at this point in my life..

3. became an aunt. (for the 9th time!)
4. lost a friend.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Just curious why you would stop drinking coffee?

I always want to be able to write #5, it just never happens.

message 14: by Her (new)

Her Majesty (hermajesty) | 122 comments Health related decision.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

That would be a wise choice then. Hope that it helps.

message 16: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Reminds me -- I need another cup right now.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Some changes here, both good and bad:

1. Lost 45 pounds, 19% body fat, and gained muscle.
2. Painted my house...poorly (I need to hire a painter to help finish...ugh!)
3. Picked up writing my novel...again.
4. Dumped MySpace.
5. Took my first vacation with my wife (just the 2 of us) for the first time in years.
6. Sadly, my mother passed away.
7. Made NO attempt to give up coffee.

message 18: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments WOW, Gus. Wow.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm back in college after nearly 30 years on the lam.

Félix (habitseven) Clark wrote: "I'm back in college after nearly 30 years on the lam."

Been there, done that. I didn't get my BS until I was 47. Well ... I had some BS, but no degree.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Good luck with that Clark. I admire the dedication that it will take.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm sort of nervous. Master's program in IT and I'm sure what little study skills I possessed back in 1980 have now gone the way of the 8-track tape.

Come to think of it, the only thing I knew for sure back then was the exact price of a sixer of Molson, including tax, which I think I knew from genetic memory.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Well at least you had study skills. I'm sure they will come back to you.

message 24: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) What has changed in your life this year, big or small?

Small.

Larry wrote: "What has changed in your life this year, big or small?

So has small become big, or has small become smaller? :-)

message 26: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Qualitatively larger, Jim.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Excellent

message 28: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It is, after all, the little things that mean the most.

Félix (habitseven) Kevin "El Liso Grande" wrote: "small is the new big"

Exactly!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments 1. I'm smaller than I was last January, it's true. I'm not saying how much, though, but I'm really impressed by Gus. 45 lb.s, wow!

2. I started walking more than ever this year.

3. I've been way more social, to my surprise. Book groups, drinks out with friends, going to see bands downtown. My weekends have disappeared.

4. Something flipped a switch, and all of a sudden I didn't feel like eating sweets much anymore. Weird!

5. I've gotten closer to my aunt's family, thanks to Facebook

message 32: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I can't imagine you not being social, Jackie.

I've been walking a lot, too. Oh, and using the stairs instead of the elevator quite often (I work on the 10th floor).

message 33: by Megan (new)

Megan Anderson (ms_anderson) Oh! I'm adding to my list that I met my reading goal for this year. I count this as pretty major, since at the beginning of September I didn't think I'd make it.

Level Complete: 250 in 2009!
Next Level: 1000 in '10!

That's total books read since I've been keeping track, not how many books I'm going to read next year. Be realistic here :P

And everyone who's lost weight this year: I'm ignoring you now congratulations!
