Tash grinned at the thought. "No. Stefan was talking about his wife, my niece. She's perfectly capable of protecting herself, believe me - but Stefan is" - he gave a small laugh - "sophistic, overprotective and irritating at times. He's also the most goodhearted person I have ever met, so..." he shrugged expressively.
"Two towns away?" he frowned. "I would have thought I knew all the non-human residents nearby. Well, you're welcome to take my car." He tossed her some keys. "Lead on."

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments Ari caught the keys and smiled.
"You'll see why you never noticed before when we get there."

"Oh, great," Tash grumbled, getting in the passenger seat.

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments Ari smiled slightly and started the car driving out of the town.

message 55: by [deleted user] (new)

"So you've lived in this area for how long?" Tash asked, still a bit disgruntled at the knowledge of his ignorance.

message 56: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments "About three months now." Ari replied heading for the main highway.

Lovely, Tash thought. And now she knows where I live. He didn't usually deal with the humanoid creatures - he wasn't the most sociable person, and he preferred the easy straightforwardness of tooth and claw to making polite - or even impolite - conversation. Though he could act very sociably, if called upon.
"Ah, Ms. Elestra," he said calmly a while later, eyes fixed on his side mirror. "How well can you drive? I seem to have picked up some pursuit."
Not good - especially not so close to his home, which was supposed to be a refuge.

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments Ari glanced in the mirror and saw a pure black limo following them.
"I can drive as well as I need to. What do you have in mind Master Tash?"
If worst comes to worst I can always call on my magic too

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

He smiled, wide and slow. "Why, evasion, Ms. Elestra."

message 60: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments Ari nodded and swerved onto a bumpy side road.
"Hang on to your hats." she laughed as the car jostled over pot holes and small fallen branches.

message 61: by [deleted user] (new)

"Ha - you should try fourwheeling," Tash informed her. "Do you think it's wise, going on this road? There aren't many connecting to it, and there is definitely no traffic."
He glanced back. "I do admit, though, that the sight of a limo is amusing." He grinned.

message 62: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments Ari winked.
"Trust me I know what I'm doing." She pushed the pedal down a bit more and the car sped up and bumped around the road even more. She just needed to get a bit farther and reach the trees then she could use her powers.
