I just saw the weather report for the next ten days and we will get a big break in the heat of summer! Next Wednesday night the low is 58 degrees! This is a small thing, but as a northern girl, I am very excited to open all of my windows, put a fan in, and cuddle under the covers. Small pleasures.

Cici, how is married life treating you? How is that little guy? Is he on the move yet? Have you gone back to school shopping with your daughter yet? Of course there is still a month left, but if you watch any TV commercials, they treat it like it is next week.

Everything is great :) Yes, the little guy is moving around getting into everything! No, school shopping yet. Everytime we go into a store though, Angelina says when she has a job she's going to go shopping and buy clothes everyday because she just loves clothes and shoes and hats and everything else so much. She's funny. How is everything going with you Jenn?

I am keeping busy. Doing a little redecorating and updating in the bathroom and bedroom. Helping my mom with painting at her house, taking care of the yard and some projects before school starts. I am also thinking of returning to school myself for a non-teaching degree as the governor and state congress have made it clear it is open season on teachers, I need a new source of income. Loving this 75 degree day, though. Ditto tomorrow, I think I will work in the yard. Maybe repot some of my houseplants.

I hope that everyone is well (I know Jennifer has been sick) and that your lives are getting back on track. I am sure that Cici is busier than ever with that little boy running around now.

Steven, I saw on Facebook you have a new kindle - which did you decide to get? I bought myself the kindle fire for Christmas and then gave my generation 2 to a sweet young girl I know who loves to read. Then I realized the new kindle fire is backlit and you can't read in bright sunlight! So I wanted my old generation 2 back for summer coming up, but I know it is better off with someone who will use it all the time, not just on beach days.

Jennifer I see you have a kindle also, would love to hear which model you chose. I am an electronic gizmo junkie.

I got an email from a former student the other day telling me that he has had a book published. He was always writing something in class and I remember being annoyed that he just wouldn't put that away and learn his chemistry! But he was a good kid and has become legally blind since I knew him. This is the link to his book, it is not available on kindle or nook, just paper. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you are interested:

Cici has given me a whole host of books to read. I finally just finished and rated them.
I hope everyone is well and the summer is being good to ya'll. I am preparing for a move to Michigan! Good-Bye Alabama! Things have been extremely busy entertaining the three kiddos for the summer, but very enjoyable. I signed them all up for the Summer Reading Program at the library and they are reading daily.
I miss everyone!
Sincerely,
Jenna

Steven (tbones) | 592 comments So, it's been a while and I am back from the dead Oooo Ha ha ha :o) Actually, I just needed to get back on top ot things cause I saw things kinda slippin here. I put up a new monthly read for our group. It's Dean Koontz's Frankenstein book one. I thought with Halloween coming this might be a fun read for people in here that haven't read it yet. I did see we had a few that have read it, and yes I have and I am on book four at the moment but I thought we could get a message board put up for all five titles and just anytime you post something put (spoiler) in the beginning so nobody reads to far into your post.
So otherwise how the heck is everyone in here. I hope you all have some fantastic plans for Halloween and some of them involve reading spooky books or watching some spooky movies. Sinister is coming out which looks very creepy and of course another Paranormal Activity movie...something had to take the place of Saw huh :o)
Well, happy reading everyone and I look forward to talkin Frankenstein with all of you soon :o)

I know I have been silent for a long time, and I, like you all, have been very busy with life's little details, like work. I hope you are all well, even though I do not post enough, please know that I wish you well and hope that you are happy in your life.

I am thankful this week that I have a job, that I have people in my life who truly care about me, and for all of you. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Steven (tbones) | 592 comments Hey Cici, yes it has been a while huh. I did get some stuff going on, on here at the end of last month. Hope the intense shark books work. They make Jaws seem like a puppy dog and the action is good in these titles too. Plus you all get to learn a little big about sharks, the Mariana Trench and deep sea diving. Also, I think it would be interesting to hear how many people are heading to the beaches this summer after these books :O) He he he he. So hey I'm also thinking we should maybe get with the times in here and get some comic book threads up as well. I don't know about all you people but I've been picking up some great comics lately with some fantastic story telling in them. Plus, I think we really need some humor within our reads this summer. I'm going to see if David Sedaris has anything new out. Well, it's always great jumping in here and reading comments and seeing people having a great time :o)

Steven (tbones) | 592 comments Hello Everybody!! I have a new title put up for our group read. It's kind of part of a series but could stand alone as well. We've read some Deborah Ledford stories before and I thought this might be on to check out as well.
It's been a while again but I am trying to get more stuff going in this group and I put up a few new threads. I'd love to see some comments in them. We have some comic stuff, manga & anime, and even one thread for magazines now. There are a lot of great magazines out there that have some amazing short fiction in them and great articles and such so I thought why not. So, I hope you are all having an awesome summer and enjoying whatever it is you are all reading :o)

Angie | 225 comments I've never posted on here, not EVER!! There's lots of members I've never chatted to either. So here goes, I'm Angie and I live in Manchester UK and can't go a day without reading my books, lol. I've got my cat Bella and my dog Marley and they are usually sat asleep next to me or trying to get more food.

At the moment on this group I've gotten into the Edward Lorn books and the Douglas Preston with a couple of others as well. Far to many but I'll manage somehow:D

Steven (tbones) | 592 comments Hi Alicia, funny I live in the country where my neighbors have plenty of property to hide the bodies on so I read murder stories so maybe I will notice the signs before it's too late :O) Happy to have you join our group :O)

Angie | 225 comments Steven wrote: "who's the tougher of the two, your cat or your dog? oh and Hi Angie :O)"

My cat as she will wake me by sitting on my chest and poke me with her paw purring as load as she can!! All because I'm not already stroking her and feeding her:O))) My dog he's a bit more laid back unless he sees sausage s then he goes crazy just wanting them! And I swear he can smell them even if he's outside when I bring them home, lol. But I love them to prices:)

Wow, did you kidnap my pets :O) They sound a lot like ours. We have a cat and dog too. Our cat (Mercedes) can really beat up on our dog (Stout) from time to time though :O)

message 370: by Angie (new)

Angie | 225 comments My cat isn't really a scratcher, she probably the most laid back cat ever:-) She just spends all her time purring. She was a rescue cat, living on the tram station. We brought her home and that was 13 years ago now, ive never understand why people dump their pets:( Half her tail had been cut off as well.

Angie | 225 comments Bella just lounges around, she loses interest in toys although she likes destroying all my shoe laces, lol. Its fun how insitant she gets when she wants feeding:O) Marley my dog is pretty much the same, but my son and his partner have got two fish tanks, two snakes a tarantula spider and hamsters that have just had babies! They've got 2 cats and a dog as well!! Its like walking into a mad zoo when I go round to his house:O)
