So on Fat Tuesday I took a long look in the mirror and decided it was also Fat Jenn day. I let my gym membership lapse and have not been very good at exercising or curbing my appetite. So I have decided to take a positive step towards reducing my BMI. The treadmill will be delivered on Saturday. I will probably start hanging clothes on it on Sunday.

Jess (jhigg) Good luck! I started running on Thursday, too.

Uggghhhhh

message 53: by [deleted user] (new)

Feeling a bit lonely lately - no one has been posting - we are in need of a shot in the arm! Like something, like, fun!

Here is what I am up to: Got a big week -

Monday - subbing for a professor at Baker
Tuesday - teaching a ceramics class
Wednesday - Parent Teacher conferences (this is my least favorite activity of the week - I hate telling parents how bad or good their kid is. Really, what is the point? Their kid has been going to school for 10 or 11 years now, they know what their kid is like!)

Thursday - teaching my own class at baker
Friday - if alive and walking upright and speaking coherantly, I hope to be home making the dog feel like I am not a stranger.

Just thought I would share - even the mundane. Where is everyone? Have you all been abducted by aliens???

message 54: by Jess (new)

Jess (jhigg) ^_^ Good luck with all that, Jenn! It sounds.... tiring. What kind of dog do you have?

Well, today my friend and I are going to get our hair done for the practice for her wedding. It should be fun, especially since the stylist has been my friend for years and I haven't been able to see her very often.

message 55: by Cici (new)

Cici has anyone seen the new valentine daymovie?? I want to know how it is, it looks cute!

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

My dog is a black lab pointer mix. She is a 70 pound cuddler with a knack for knowing when the refrigerator door opens . . .

message 57: by [deleted user] (new)

Cici wrote: "has anyone seen the new valentine daymovie?? I want to know how it is, it looks cute!"

I saw this a couple of weeks ago and I liked it. It is not as good as Love Actually but better than He's Just Not That Into You(actually way better, since I hated that movie!). I would suggest it, it is a fun night out. Eat popcorn!

message 58: by [deleted user] (new)

Busy week is over and am looking forward to a good night's sleep and an easy night off. Maybe I will get a pizza tomorrow so I don't have to cook!

message 59: by Jess (new)

Jess (jhigg) I saw Valentine's Day! It was pretty good. :) It was actually about love, rather than "girl is always right and man has to make up for what he did wrong." :)

Sorry I haven't been around. I lost my entire hard drive yesterday, including the 14 page paper that was due. It wasn't the best of days.

I'm going to see "Alice in Wonderland" today! :) I hope it's not disappointing.

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

Let me know how Alice in Wonderland is. I have never really liked this story. It seems it is just Lewis Carroll's acid trippy story. Our high school did this play last fall and it really stunk - but most high school plays do. I just don't get this story - is it a metaphor for something? Am I just stupid? I can't get a handle on it.

message 61: by Cici (new)

Cici omg, i love alice in wonderland!!!i really wanna see tim burton's alice, but i'll wait til it's on dvd so i can just buy it!!! i do admit, lewis carroll was kinda creepy and prob a phedaphile or something, but i LOVE the story and I actually like the walt disney better than the book, HAHA.

message 62: by Jess (last edited Mar 10, 2010 06:51AM) (new)

Jess (jhigg) I loved the books. It's not something I can really explain, but I just loved how fantastic the world was, you know? And the poetry. I love The Walrus poem.

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland was okay. It reminded me a lot of The Wizard of Oz. Good queen vs. bad queen, in the end "you, you, and you were there" sort of thing. It was good, but... not as spectacular as I expected.

message 63: by Cici (new)

Cici the guy i worked with went to see it, first of all I didn't know it was 3d, he said his eyes never adjusted to the 3d glasses, and he said johnny depp actually scared him, he said the character was just crazy and mean. I heard a while ago, which I find interesting.. the MadHatters were actually real, a long time ago anyways.. when the hat makers first started making hats they used murcery to soak them and from wearing the hats, it would actually make them go mad, eventually, from the mercery poisoning, thats where the name Mad as a Hatter came from.
But from everyone else they said the movie was great. This guy doesn't like the original Alice or Tim Burton anyways, haha.

message 64: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished my Baker class last week - now 2 weeks break and I am back at it. I have a pretty sizable pile of papers to check, but I can get to it pretty easily this week.

Went to see Green Zone with my favorite - Matt Damon - and I was pleasantly surprised. I usually don't like war movies, but I was drawn by the magic that is Damon. I was not disappointed that I spent $9 to see it, unlike Couples Retreat which we rented tonight for $5 and turned off 20 minutes in. Disappointing.

message 65: by Cici (new)

Cici i actually bought Couples Retreat because I LOVE vince Vaughnn and my favorite movie is Wedding Crashers, and I just thought it was going to amazing, and it was just okay, awkward at a few parts, should've just rented!!!! I really would like to see Green Zone, is that a part of the Bourne movies???

message 66: by [deleted user] (new)

Not a Bourne movie, but moves along like one. This movie made me really hate our government for starting all this Iraq sh*t based on a lie - so many people have died . . .

But I still love Matt Damon, I may write a song about it.

message 67: by [deleted user] (new)

Cici, have you heard anything about Jennifer? How is she adjusting to the turns her life has taken? If you see/talk/write to her, tell her I hope she and the children are well.

Cici Jenn wrote: "Cici, have you heard anything about Jennifer? How is she adjusting to the turns her life has taken? If you see/talk/write to her, tell her I hope she and the children are well."

I will! Thanks for asking! She is actually here visiting for a week, I visited with her yesterday and will see her a few times before she goes back!!! She needs to get back on Goodreads!!!

I LOVE action movies, so I'm sure I will like it. My favorite movies with Matt Damon are the Bourne movies, of course and I Loved Rounders, have you seen that one??? Thats with the playing cards. I actually enjoyed Jay and Silent Bob, too even though they're pretty dumb... haha.

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I have seen all of his movies - even Silent Bob and that terrible Mr. Ripley movie. My faves are Ocean's 11, Dogma, and the Bourne movies. I hear he is making Rounders 2 and a remake of True Grit (the original with John Wayne).

I need to get out more.

Wow I miss you guys! Things have been very nuts here! I will be moving with the kids to Huntsville, AL in April! Wish me luck.
PS- has anyone gotten to see the new Disney Princess? The Princess and the Frog, sooo freakin adorable!

message 72: by Cici (new)

Cici Oh yes, the Dogma and Oceans are good, too.
I still haven't seen Frog Princess but Angelina does want to see it!!!

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

My last movie was taking a small group of 9th grade girls to see Remember Me with Robert "Edward Cullen" Pattinson. I thought it was pretty bad, but the girls liked it. My favorite part was when I went to get a refill on 3 large popcorns and several frozen cokes. Mostly I am the wallet and the sherpa on these outings. Next up: Cedar Point with the same group. I must not be learning. Pray for me.

message 74: by Cici (new)

message 78: by [deleted user] (new)

I have the whole week off from work and can you here me sighing contentedly from where you are?? I still have some work to do for both the high school and Baker, but I do not have do get up before the sun to do it!! And I can be in my sweats or even my PJ's if I want! Got out in the yard this weekend - my gardens are waking up. I am lucky life is good right now. I am sending you all warm thougts . . .

message 79: by Cici (new)

Cici Thank you for the warm thoughts! The HIM concert was so much fun, I ended up get really close to the stage, the closest I've ever been at a concert, but luckily did not get moshed on, haha.
How was everyone's Easter?
The kids had such a fun Easter and had two egghunts and two baskets and lots of cool stuff. It's been sooo beautiful outside and that makes everyone so much happier!

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) I've read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but I wasn't really impressed with it. The first 50 pages or so was really hard to get into, but it got better. I don't think I'll read the rest.

okay Lisa, that is how everyone is!!!!! I swear, everyone I know has either wanted to quit on this book or they have, but cross my heart it gets really, really good. Probably the first 80 pages sucked but I'm sooo happy I read it and I also read the girl who played with fire, the second book. My friend just finished girl with dragon tattoo and thanked me for warning her that the book sucked at the beginning because she loved it, once she got through it and can't wait to see the movie.
I hated the beginning because the author went into such depth about the business lawsuit and I didn't really understand and it didn't interest me at all, but as soon as he stopped it was pretty much kick ass :) Give it one more chance :) You will enjoy it :)

message 86: by Lisa S (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) Cici, I'll try it later. I promise I will. I have heard the second one was better.

I saw The Runaways last night. It's about the all-girl rock band of the same name (Joan Jett and Lita Ford's band). I really liked it and if you are a rock and roll fan, I highly recommend it. Kristen Stewart was Joan Jett and very good in it. Check it out!
