Well, I just finished 137, so I think I will make it. Now if I could just get through the snow to the library for some additional books. Or else I will finish with the classics I can download for free on my Kindle.

Pat, there are a ton of free Kindle books that are not classics, do you have the sites or do you need them?
I need to read 3 more books. It's going to be a struggle - but I'd hate to fail this close to target. The 144 target has been a bit too much of a stretch for me- and I've felt under pressure which has affected the books I've chosen aswell.
Next year I think a target of 100 will be more comfortable for me- I also want to tackle all the 'big' books I've avoided this year. Some of my fave authors only write huge blockbusters- so they will be back on the tbr pile next year.
I relate Magpie: I want a library in my house too. I have a wall of 2 beautiful 6 shelf bookcases - overflowing and not nearly enough room. I moved from Hawaii to California in August and gave away boxes of books. Working on rebuilding! Something very comforting with seeing books everywhere in the house. My daughter has a love for books too & is working on filling her bookcase too. :)

tomorrow"At least you have Last Sacrifice to read once you are finished!
I didn't even realize I hit the 144 mark. I just decided to post an update on the books I have finished this month and I am at 147!
I'm at 152. Pretty exciting! Next year I'm shooting for 200 from January-December. I love that Goodreads lets me track my books so easily. I'd never be able to count them if I couldn't put the date I finished each book right into GR.
I reached my goal of 144 this week with time to spare.I think 150 will be a reasonable goal for me for next year. Through this group I have also realised by personal goal to record all the books I read so I'm pretty happy!
Anna wrote: "I just reached 121 which is further than I thought I'd get to with graduate school. Wow."Congratulations, Anna! I'm impressed with your 121 and grad school, too. Great going!
I have completed my 144 books ....actually I surpassed that and have read 190 ....I was hoping to make it to 200 but there's always next year...
My desktop is down. So I'm not sure exactly what number I'm at right now--just that its somewhere in the 330 range, I think. November wasn't a good month for me--I read a whole 12 books, I think it was that month. Too much family drama going on in Oct. Nov. and the first part of Dec. My Mum spent all of Oct and the first half of Nov in hospital, then hubby went in hospital. I'm seriously thinking about a hospital retreat for myself as a relief from all the stress.
Well, I didn't make it. Too much going on these last few weeks, and didn't have time to read. Try again next year.
Just finished #50. Had an upside down year - normally I would have read more. I would estimate 80. Not sure which I am joining yet.
Hurray for me. I just checked in with my 144th book. Like Julie (mess. 1870) I had a really up and down year. Lots of happy stuff but lots of sad stuff too. It didn't feel right to be curled up apart from the rest of the family with my nose in a book when they needed my support. I so hope that 2011 will be better. Perhaps I will tackle some of those tome-like books that Kim (mess. 1856) talked about.
Congratulations Deanna! I am not going to make 144 this year (I am at 130 right now) but I am still proud of myself for reading that much as I read 124 books last year.
I am only at 94. I should get at least one more before the end of the year, well maybe. Its more than I read last year but I was hoping to make it at least to 100. Oh well, it was still fun to read the stories and get all the additional suggestions from this group. lol, my TBR list is a 10 page long excel document. lol.
My tbr pile is more along the lines of a 6' tall bookcase crammed with books. Not neatly sorted alphabetically or by subject--just all shoved into it, and packed so tightly that its almost impossible to get a book OUT. And then there are the books tbr on my Nook. . . .
336 books 119004 pages 2011 resolution read less exercise more. hummm... I can exercise and listen...
Well, not so good. It was a disruptive year for reading. I can see from the dates between books where the year went bad. Anyway - 51 only. Very low for me. And the last one the 51st - I didn't much care for (Perfume by Patrick Suskind). So not so good way to end the year. My kids are bugging me to do something so I guess I won't read #52 today! Although I may try later on.Happy New Years everybody!!! Looking forward to starting fresh iin 2011
Well, I didn't make it to 144! But I did break my record for last year which was 101. This year I read 119 so I'm happy! :) Hopefully I'll do better next year!
