I didn't finish it yesterday so hope I get time today but I'm sure it will be a busy day. At least food shopping for the weekend today. And maybe going to the concert tomorrow morning to see Barenaked ladies and Chris Allen

I have slowed down a bit on my reading. I guess I must be at that stage. Now that the television shows are going to begin their reruns I will be more inspired to sit and read in the evenings. I am still ahead of where I usually am at this time.
Same here Sheila - I have been watching so much TV and not reading. I'm waiting for all the season finales to be done with to concentrate on getting more reading done.
tv...what's that...lol! mine is hardly on anymore...i was deployed during the most of this season's tv shows (the first half), so i'm soo far behind that it hasn't even been worth trying to catch up...i'll buy them on dvd when they come out or catch them on re-runs to catch up...
Welcome, Michelle. Some of these readers are truly awesome, aren't they. I don't quite measure up. I'm just at 12 books a month. Keep reading and recording your books. Enjoy the journey.
I am so impressed with the number of books that are being read. I have read 32 with one more almost done. That is far behind alot of people but still about 12 ahead of where I would normally be. Keep up the good work, and I hope everyone is enjoying the books they are reading.
I stil haven't finished Pasta Imperfect my 12th book. Been busy at the shore so maybe when I get offline if I don't fall asleep. I was busy helping to fly a kite tonight. Then we took another walk.
I did well in March and April, but May was AWFUL!! I only finished 4 books. I am going to have to make a plan for June that includes more reading into my schedule!!! :) I am significantly behind now with only 48 books read... Hopefully I have a great June and get close to catching up!!! :)
I'm getting nowhere fast as I keep picking up crap books that I don't finish! This week alone I have abandoned 10 different books that I wasn't enjoying and only finished one!

Or should I apologize to my family instead?"I'm right there with you! I think that this may be my first resolution that I've completed, too! I've even done something that I thought I would never do - I have lived without cable tv for over two months now. I don't know if I'll be able to make it all summer with no cable (as a school teacher, I'll be on vacation), but I think that I'm going to give it a try.
I hit 100. I've never counted my books before, so I thought 12 a month would be a stretch for me (especially when I started with a fat Stephen King novel), but I'm finding I read a lot more than I thought! :)
Well, here on the last day of May, I've hit 87. I don't think I'll get another book done today, but I am very pleased with my progress so far. Congratulations to all who have finished!
I'm rather pleased with my progress so far, too. I noted at the beginning of the month that I read 8 books in January, 10 in February, 14 in March, and 14 in April, and if I read at least 14 in May, I would be on pace to reach 144 by the end of the year. Well, I actually read 15 books in May (and the day's not over yet) so I've reached 61 for the year. I just might be able to do this. :-)
I just finished book #64 for the year. I am still on track to make this happen. I can't wait until school gets out as that is my prime reading time.
I just finished 104 - that will be the last one for this month...if I have another month like May, I might reach my 144 by the end of the month - although, i did procrastinate doing schoolwork a lot during the month ;)
Well, ok, I have to get COMPLETELY off topic here and do some bragging on my 11 year old grandson. We went to Balticon this past weekend (left on Friday morning, just got home an hour ago.) I haven't been doing a lot of reading this month, because we were busy getting ready for the con (er, LOTS of costumes had to be made.)
Anyway--my 11 year old grandson decided that THIS year he was going to make his entire costume personally. He selected his "topic" for the costum--Wizard of Space--then went looking for fabric. He made a cape, hood and robe. All without a pattern (or at least, without a 'bought' one--I helped him work out his own pattern for the 1 thing that he felt "had to have" one.)
He took THREE awards with his costume--including the "special" Bobby Gear Memorial Award. This award is only given to Young Fans (anyone under the age of 12) who enter the masquerade and have SOMETHING to do with their costume--doing their own make-up, thinking of what it should be etc. Its only been being given for 3 years now, since Bobby died. (She ran the Masquerade for about 25 or so years.) He also got best in class, AND one for workmanship). Ok, ALL the kids get some kind of award for their costumes, but he was the ONLY one who went for workmanship--and the judges aren't "required" to give an award for it. He was ssooo excited that he was almost shaking when they announced all his awards.
Ok, having now done the "bragging Grandma" thing, I guess I should also say that his Mum took "most beautiful" in HER class (Journeyman.) She went as Alexia from Soulless and Changeless .
I onl finished my 12th of the month last night. So didn't get anymore than that done this past weekend.

That is so cool! I'd love to see pics of the costumes :)
Oh, and on topic: May was a pretty good month for me. I had my birthday this month and got lots of book money :) I'm still really far behind (on #46) but I'm plugging along and having a great time. I'm ahead of where I was this time last year and most of my books are first-time reads (last year I spent a lot of time revisiting old friends).
AnnThat is some grandchild! Congrats on raising a mom who is creative with her child and a grandson who has imagination and the desire to do things himself when he is so young. Someone must have raised them right.
I am starting to get into my books! I know I only have 14 done so far so I'm still working on it. It has been a rough start to the year! I am just going to keep going! I finished 8 books last month so there is still a chance I can get close to the goal. Well maybe not close to the goal but closer then when the year started right!
i'm doing good...read a lot more than i thought i would have by this time!! i'm at 60 books. reading about 10 a month or a bit less...2 1/2 or so a week. blew thru the entire rachel morgan series by kim harrison and i'm mid way thru the anita blake series by laurell hamilton. thrown in every book by patricia briggs and kelley armstrong (women of the underworld) in between. right now reading Obsidian Butterfly with Narcissus in Chains in cue. just finished Broken while waiting for the two anita blake books to be special ordered from the library. i'm right in line with making it 144...we'll see!
Michelle--there is no rule that says you can't use books you read because of a bet. I'd say go for it--if they were that bad, you deserve to count them. :o)

Both excellent. As is Patricia Briggs.
To all of you who haven't completed twenty, forty, or sixty books yet---so what! It sounds like you are enjoying the books you are reading and you are reading more than you did last year (unless life interfers).I've learned a lot about the new books out there from comments on this site and added even more books to my already very long list of books TBR. I'm grateful for those who review books and talk of books and record books. This is the best site.
Thank you everyone keep up the reading!

And congrats by the way
So far I've read 75 out of 144, doing better than I thought I would be. No wonder my husband thinks I read all the time. haha

There are 12 books in the series with a 13th on the way. Plus a prequel that was written around the same time as the 5th ..."
sometimes nice break to have the simple, easy or fluff books inbetween your normal books
I am so excited, I have reached a half way point in my goal of 144 books in a year. The big "70" Books so far - yeah.Congrats to everyone who is doing this challenge, especially everyone who has made their halfway point and those who have already made it past a 100.
Happy reading everyone!
I am on #76 and #77 right now (Barefoot by Elin Hilderbrand and Swan Song by Robert McCammon). I am glad to be ahead of schedule, the end of the year is always tough for reading!
Well I bought a nook today. With the gift certificate I had already and the one they give you for buying one. It helped somewhat bring down the price. Now if I could only buy a book that I want to read and but it on it. I had credit left over from the gift certificate so I can use that and if I go back to the store I can get free books there. Totally implusive to buy it there and not just get the kindle.
Good I'll know who I can ask any questions I have. I already used part of my gift certificate for 2 books. But I mostly want to get free books if possible. I think if I go back to B&N tomorrow I'm buying another gift card so I only use those. Or get free books but I read that they are charging even though it's free. But they said you have to call B&N up and they will correct. It's a problem they are having. At least going by the website questions people have. If you have any good places to go for info or books let me know.
