message 1301: by Anna (new)

Anna (aknas22) | 43 comments I really need to get a move on if I'm going to make the goal. I've been putting in such long hours at work I haven't had much time or energy for reading.

message 1302: by Lisa S (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) Next week we are going to start overtime at work, so I'm sure my reading will slow considerably.

message 1303: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) I've just managed to finish #36. I hope I can do 3 more books over the weekend. Nothing like anxiously trying to catch up. :)

message 1304: by Afsana (new)

Afsana (afsanaz) on my 12th book for this month so 1 more to hit my quota

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) Wow!

I've been on nights and evenings at work for the last two weeks - so as long as its quiet I can normally read for a few hours (plus the weather has been gorgeous and i've been reading outside during the day)

Wendy (wldinnis) I finished book #56 this morning and hope to start another book tonight.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 158 comments I'm thinking I may need to take a reading break. Maybe just a week or two to try to get things done that have been sliding some. I managed to finish #80 for the year today so I have a little wiggle room. We'll see.

message 1310: by Afsana (new)

Afsana (afsanaz) you coukd not read till half way thru july an be ok

message 1311: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) I agree with Afsana! :)

Susan (superbookfreak) | 115 comments I'm working on mine, not getting too far, but I'm working on it.

Keep going Susan! You can do it! Whatever goal you meet, be it 50 or 150, will be awesome!

Heather B (heatherbenson) Susan wrote: "I'm working on mine, not getting too far, but I'm working on it."

Same with me, some of these people read so fast it makes me feel really slow!

message 1315: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) I managed to get to #41 last night. I have a couple of reads I am halfway through and will be done with them in the next couple of days.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 158 comments I've got to take a break and get some other things done. But since I said that, I've read a book a day. Finished #86 this morning. Two more challenge reads this month to go. Maybe I'll only read my 10 challenge reads next month. Maybe.

your 10 challenge reads?

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 158 comments Sorry, from another group The Romance Readers Reading Challenges - http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1... . Every month there are 10 categories that you have to read a book to satisfy that category. Examples include:

Memorial Day: Read book whose author is now deceased.
Geography: Read a book whose author, setting or character is from Washington (State).
Cinco De Mayo: Read a book whose title has 5 words.
Spring Theme: Read a book that has flower, flowers or garden on the cover; or has the word "flower", "flowers", or any type of flower as part of its title.

You get the idea. Even though it is the Romance Readers Reading Challenge, the books don't have to be romance books (well one of the ten challenges is relating to a specific romance genre like historical/futuristic/suspense romance).

Quite a bit of fun if you'd like to give it a shot.

message 1319: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 394 comments lol Jim--I too do a lot of challenges. When possible I try to blend them together. But some just don't blend. Still, considering how many books I read each year, that's not a prob. :o)

message 1320: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo I think that would drive me crazy. LOL. Now that I only have the fern michaels book to finish up and the Boyle book it off to the side for the time being I picked a Brava book by my old online friend donna Kauffman to read next and I only started and was able to read this morning and already I'm more than 1/2 though it. So again it's one of those books that for me is zippable. The one the other day by Lora Leigh I finished in less than a day. It depends on the book.

Vicky (ladyvictoria5) | 98 comments All you readers of the Read-A-Thon: You are AWESOME!! Life interferred and I didn't get anything done. You are my HEROES!!!

message 1322: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wldinnis) I finished #58 during the read-a-thon and am now working on #59.

message 1323: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 394 comments um, OK, I admit to being an over-achiever. But, well, I've finished the challenge already.

I'll keep listing, because I'm curious about how many books I do read during a year. But this will be the last time I post the number in the group messages.

message 1324: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wldinnis) Good for you!

message 1325: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) Congrats, Ann!! :)

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 158 comments Ann, no need for modesty when you are so amazing. I'm pulling for you to hit 300! Congratulations on your benchmark.

message 1327: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 394 comments Right now I'm going through the list of speakers for Balticon next weekend. I plan on taking a suitcase full of books to get autographed. :o) So far 2 of my favourite authors are on the list. Tanya Huff and Gail Carriger. Still need to check out the rest of the HUGE number of authors coming. (blushing) I tend to remember the STORIES better than the titles and authors names, so I have to go through my bookcases for each name. :o)

message 1328: by Afsana (new)

Afsana (afsanaz) congrats ann!

One book for each other to sign I hope not all books otherwise you may need a whole coach!!

message 1329: by KimWin (new)

KimWin | 97 comments I am starting to get dissappointed in myself. I have only read 35 so far! This year has been too busy!!

message 1330: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 776 comments Mod
Kim - don't get disappointed in yourself! life happens! some months I get lots of reading done, others not so much...its all for fun, if you make the goal or not!

message 1331: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo 6 books finished for the month so far. I read a fast Silhouette yesterday. Going to be busy today and tomorrow Hopefully I'll get some reading in between times.

message 1333: by KimWin (new)

KimWin | 97 comments I finished two books this week and over half way on a third. School is out in 10 days, so I should speed up a bit!

message 1334: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) Hi everyone, I think I am doing average but am still amazed at how much I actually read.

When i reach 72 books, I will be at the half way mark which will probably be next month and if I take that into consideration, I'll have 6 months to get the other half done.

Well done

but you are right on target

message 1336: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I made this a New Years' Resolution and I think this may be the first resolution I've ever followed thru on. I'm on book 120, thank you very much! Or should I apologize to my family instead?

message 1337: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) That is so neat Carolyn, a 120 books so far is awesome!

Thanks Afsana, I am trying to at least read 12 books a month but have been reading more than that everyonce in a while - LOl, it all just depends on what happens within that month as far as my time goes.

Happy reading everyone.

message 1338: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo I wish I was doing better but I'm better than I did last year so I guess I should be happy. 64 so far this year Last year I had only read 45 at this point. I find I'm spending more time online than I used too. But the next two days I'm staying in so hopefully I'll read more and be online less. So far this month I only read 7 books.

message 1339: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wldinnis) I am seriously slowing down this month as far as my reading goes. I think it might have to do with the baby crafts I am making as well as the fact that I can't keep my eyes open at night. Gotta love the third trimester :)
I think I finished 59 today and it was a tear jerker if you are a dog lover.

message 1340: by Cat (new)

Cat (shynet5025) | 31 comments I have been reading but really have been a slacker when it comes to updating. I think it is because I don't want to see how many books I have really read. I am on book 124 and going strong.. Me a problem No never

message 1341: by KimWin (new)

KimWin | 97 comments I am getting excited, only 8 days left of school. Wondering what I will do with my summer time? oh,,,, read!!

message 1342: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo okay second time online but I was playing on itunes and listening to music I had and got another 2 songs. But not connected to electric so I will have to get off soon. But I'm close to finishing Fast Track finally. I know it will happen today then onto the next book. I played with my books this morning and went though 2 booksshelves back and forth and moved books around. How it happened I came out in the end with open spots to find more books to fill in.

message 1343: by Lisa S (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) I'm on #82 now.

message 1346: by Amber (new)

Amber Gosh reading all these #'s makes me want to cry! LOL I am only on 13 books so far this year! I tell myself that I have had a lot going on in my life. A huge move, finding a job, starting said job, then moving into the new house. It has been a couple of crazy months! I have read 8 books already this month. So I am back on track. I don't think I will get to 144 but I am hoping to get as far as I can.... I think it is cool to add another book to my DONE list! :) Way to go Ann that is freakin' awesome!

message 1347: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo I finished another 2 books yesterday and hopefully another today if I'm lucky that will be my 12th for the month. So at least I got in that if I can't finish a book in the next few days but I keep hoping.
