I will set a book aside if it doesn't grab me. I set it aside with the thought that I'll try it again later.
Great Job Ladies... I'm almost half way done with book 10. Which is amazing for me!!

Oooh, Ann, that sounds like a good show. I'll have to see if they are re-airing it so I can watch it too.

That sounds really interesting. Was it on PBS?

Good for you Jackie!
I finished #11 yesterday and numbers 12, 13 and 14 are in progress, but I have lots of time at the moment and not everyone does.

I feel the same. I find new books to add to my TBR and I find myself reading more to try and reach the goal. It is nice to have "backup" to say well done when you finish a book. =)

Darcy, hope you like Shutter Island. It's one of my all-time favorite books.

I agree, it is inspiring and, for me, it's really fun to find out what other people are reading and how we are all doing in the challenge. Regardless of what your number is right now, we're all doing great!! I like to think of us as a team!!! LOL

I am about 100 pages in right now. I find it to be a slow start and not one that I can read at one sitting. My in person book club picked it as a selection as the organizer was contacted by Paramount, who are the ones behind the movie that comes out in February. If we picked this one for our choice they would provide free tickets to the movie. We were all fine with that. This month we read The Lovely Bones and got free movie tickets, a bunch of books, and a $100 gift certificate to a restaurant to discuss the differences between them. We are not sure if we will get the books or gift certificate this time around, but just getting movie tickets is great!!

Thanks Lisa, I'll look for it!

What is shutter Island about? This sounds like something I should read?

I am about 150 pages in so far and this is what I can tell you about it.
The story takes place in the mid 1950's on a small island that is both a mental institute and prison outside of Boston. An inmate escapes and the US Marshalls are called in, while they are there a hurricane is coming essentially trapping them. It also seems like there may be some sort of conspiracy too.
I am finding the book to be a slow mover. I usually have no trouble reading a book in one setting, but with this one it isn't the case. I am reading about a 100 pages a day. Enough to get into the story, but not too much to get bored. The story does seem to be on the darker side.

What did you think of Vision in White?

My favorite read so far this year has to be THE BOOK THIEF.

Vision in White is the first Nora Robert's book that I ventured a chance on. I really liked it. The story about the friends was interesting. The search for love... well, there wasn't one. It was more of a search for understanding how love wont ruin you.

The important part is to enjoy what you are reading. Also, now we have an incentive to read a little more. It doesn't matter who reaches 144 first or even if we reach it--just enjoy what you are reading. I admire those who dislike a book and stop reading. I have a hard time tossing a book I dislike away (I think I may miss something!) We can't read all that is our there nor all we would like to read. So enjoy the journey.
