Hi only just joined this site so probably a bit late with the reply to your post, with Feist's books you are best starting at the beginning with Magician his 1st book as this way you are introduced to all the main characters who appear right through the series, I must admit when I start his books I can't put them down. Not as good as the main sequence novels (and the novelization of a computer game) but certainly enjoyable for fans. If I remember correctly, this trilogy does introduces plot points that are carried forward into later books.

i started with magician and devoured every book through to end of serpent war, read them all many times and find i can't put them down each time
