No. Helen is supposed to be the sister of the actress, living with Raphael in Hollywood (the doctor's ex). That is not very clear either, and is probably not true. The actress more or less appropriates the dead Helen because it gets her more media attention, but Helen was certainly convinced. I think this book was a mess. It's almost worth reading another one by Susanna Moore just to see if she always writes like this.
