Stephen McGlynn | 3 comments hah! dont worry bout it! i kinda stopped readin those parts once they started tellin stuff past book 4!

Sarah | 72 comments Hah! No worries, Becky. Yeah, each orb or item you unlock has a description you can read - if you haven't done it yet, you should go back and do it. Although it's a spoiler for people who haven't read it, it is so lovely-y nostalgic if you have! =D

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Hmph. I shouldn't be surprised that there is a bunch of detail-y stuff... It's KING. :P

Sorry for the mis-info Stephen, but I'm glad that you were able to see when you were getting into spoilery material!

Thanks for the info Sarah! I guess I was so caught up in FINDING the stuff I never really stopped to look at it. LOL

Nathan | 1 comments Was "chessit" somewhere that I missed? once you collect the item or orb you go under options and click on the item or orb to get info about it. This little bit was ok but I'd like to see it continue. spread the word to all fans that you know so they're compelled to continue the game

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Chassit is mentioned in the books (definitely #7, but possibly #6) but as far as I know, not in the game.

I think that the game is assuming that everyone's finished the series by the time they play it.

Martin Maher (martin87) | 72 comments No wonder I found it hard to find the orbs & the other items. I didn`t realise there was a pantry. God only knows how I missed it. I don`t think you can go there from the main dining. Maybe that was why. Anyway, once I got past that it was easy enough.

message 57: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 20 comments So far I like the game a lot...it needs a vamp or mutie hopping out from somewhere in the beginning, (you know, get some target practice going or something!)

Thanks for the help on the door that was the only part I got stuck on!

Ka-mai | 75 comments Definitely this game is for people who had read the entire Dark Tower saga. Sure, those who haven't might enjoy it also, but there are many details (e.g. chassit) that will be harder to get if you haven't read the series. One of those details is the following:
*********SPOILER********************

*********SPOILER********************

*********SPOILER********************

When Roland goes back a second time to the Dixie Pig station, he knows that Pere Callahan dropped the skoldpadda somewhere under the table and concludes that (since he doesn't feel the Can-tah's presence) someone must have taken it along with the tapestry. Now, in the game the agent of Tet the player is using finds the scrimshaw turtle, but this is 10 years after Roland passed, i.e. 2009. So, why didn't Roland sensed it? Is it because the Can-tah clouded itself from Roland's thoughts or is it because the game is not in continuity entirely and only serves as a vehicle for the reader to have a better understanding of the world of The Dark Tower?
There's another thing I found odd. The agent calls all animal-headed humanoids can-toi. I know that can-toi also means servant or underling (hence "low-men") but in the novels the usual meaning for can-toi are those that have specifically a rat head and have an organic mask that mimics the human features. In the game the agent mentions a boar-headed humanoid, and bird-headed one in bathroom's painting as been can-toi when they are in any case taheen not low-men. I don't know if it's an error or just that the agent doesn't know what he is talking about.

Is part 2 up yet?

You did well Ka-mai! You should post this on King's website!

I've been monitoring the site, nothing yet

*pouts*

Ka-mai | 75 comments Angie wrote: "Is part 2 up yet?

Maybe somebody else already post it on Mr. King's official site. I don't know. But thx for the vote of confidence.

In the meantime I'll entertain myself with The Talisman and Black House (both are related to Mid-World); waiting for part 2 of Discordia to come up. I already read The Little Sister of Eluria - one of Roland's misadventures - and Everything's Eventual - the story of how Dinky Earnshaw got "recruited" in the first place.
Anyway, is a good thing I found a good place to post.

Adam Smith (chaos624) | 19 comments I found this an interesting experience, ever since completing Dark Tower I wanted to hear more about Tet Corp and their adventures. Was hoping that the game would be a tad more interactive though but beggars can't be choosers.

I found all the items and orbs on my own, except that thrice-cursed jawbone, before finding this thread. Almost gave up on working out the password but it came back to me at the last moment. Yay for me.

Hopefully the next chapter is put up soon ... My game crashed in Todash space, so it's just me and the outer beasts until then.

You should have read the book first. You could have enjoyed the game even more.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Who said that she didn't read the book first? I read the book at least twice before playing the game and still had a hard time figuring out the access code and had to go onto the site's message board to find it.

Dylan | 2 comments The only reason I remembered is because I had JUST read that part :)

message 72: by Therese (new)

Therese | 5 comments Hey, Who said i havent read the books!! Read the series twice, best work Stephie boy has ever done. However, when i was told the password i could have kicked myself. It was so obvious! :-) Cant wait for Chapter two of he game!

That's what I meant. It was kinda obvious and used at least twice in the same novel and the word itself was always around. So I presummed that she didn't read it. Sorry, my bad. No foul meant.

UGHHH it is taking so long for the next part!

Ricky Howard I agree Angie, SOOO LOOONG...of course I just found the first part and finished it the other day but come on already! lol

Kelsey (kloh42) I feel safe enough here to admit that when I played WoW there was a guild named and if they ever needed help I'd be the first to volunteer... even though I was in another guild. I told the GM of that guild that I loved the series-- he was a hunter and his pet's name was Oy. Ah, good times.

message 78: by Jimbob (new)

Jimbob Jones | 1 comments MAKE A PROPER GAME STEPHEN!!! OR SOMEONE!!!

This game does conjure up the images I have in my head when I read the books (again and again and again) but I don't find the interface as engaging as the words on paper. To be honest, I'm not a fan of slowly scanning my mouse across every single pixel to find the one clue that allows me to move onto the next screen and then do it all again. That kind of gameplay doesn't really do the books any justice in my eyes. Someone should make a proper game of it. There you are Rockstar, I've laid the challenge. Sort it out.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I can understand where you're coming from, but the game doesn't really mirror the ka-tet's journey, it's an investigation of a 3rd party afterward to find out what happened, so the looking for clues makes sense in that scenario.

On the other hand, I would LOVE LOVE an actual game, like for Playstation or PC or something that followed the path the ka-tet took. :D

message 80: by Camuss111 (new)

Camuss111 | 1 comments This game was interesting. I went through the whole thing in like 10 minutes. The only gripe i have is that it seems to stoic, i would love to shoot a stray rat or even a living grandfather flea in a much more interactive environment. Personally, I see no issue with this as the start of the game, but i won't continue playing if it doesn't get more intense, epic. Yes, you are a third party, and yes, exploration is good, but i want to move my character normally, feel a sense of dread at what may be around the corner, Wonder if a type-one may have survived or have my greatest fears realized as only SK can do. I say they make a game out of it, something like fallout 3, or online, where it is free world and you can explore the whole entirety of this most overlooked conflict.

May we meet further along the path.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Roland, thanks for marking the spoiler - however, please be sure to mark the spoiler in the same post as many people (like me) have their settings so that the newest posts show first, so the spoiler warning post wouldn't be seen until after the spoiler. :)

Thanks. :)

message 95: by Kacey (new)

Kacey I really appreciated reading this discussion when I got stuck in the game, SO helpful!

I really like how this game lets you restart and play again from the beginning- just make sure you restart your status and not just the game. I poked around the rooms for about 5 minutes not understanding why I couldn't find anything... until I realized I hadn't reset it. Oops.

And for those of you complaining about how unexciting a game it is, IT'S FREE! I think it's pretty good for being free and all :)

message 96: by Nukie (new)

Nukie | 8 comments i tried to play the game, and found it painfull in my hands, being that i have a laptop. aside from that the artwork is good, the detail is nice, but the gameplay reminds me of an old game called "myst". which i wasnt to impressed with anyways. also it was kind of a let down not being able to actually shoot anything, seeing as the opening sequence has you practice shooting, which would have benn amazing to have in the game. in reality i exspected a "doom" type of first person shooter type game but found it more along the lines of a updated "where int he world is carmen san diego" also i couldnt find the door in the pantry, or any items aside from jakes orb, of course i wasnt really trying misunderstanding the true point of the game. upon reading and joining this thread i plan to re-attempt my previouse endeavors and immerse myself in the game (though apparently it is only limited to chapter 1). rockstar should make a game for the dark tower series, starting when roland is about to take his "gunslinger" test. it shoudl be rpg along the lines of "final fantasy" with a little mix of "grand theft auto"
