I relax, write something else, or scream and bang my head against a wall. The latter generally succeeds in giving me a mighty headache. What do you do?

Laura (snorkle) What I used to do on our old computer was I would play mindless games (spider solitaire, minesweeper, hearts) and eventually someone would start a conversation (in my head, kind of goes along with the title of this group) and then I would immediately start writing down whatever what was going on...usually it's pretty exciting...and then I have the start to a story.....

or...if that doesn't work then I go around and ask my family for their ideas of what would make an "interesting story." Most of the time their ideas are so crazy/not-something-I-care-about that I have to think of something else....

Listening to music helps too.

Amy That's when I take up my trusty notebook and do a "freewrite" longhand. I will either just let my mind wander and I write about whatever I'm thinking about, or I write a scene about anything--just not relating the the story I'm working on. I write nonstop for 10 or 20 minutes. This really helps get my creative juices flowing

MayDerp | 6 comments For me, I would read any good books (it's better when they're new and unfinished), watch a good TV show/anime with a decent anough plot, or read other's writing. That usually jogs my creativity...
