We're supposed to get a major snowdrop here in Omaha tonight/tomorrow as well. Probably part of the big system Sally mentioned. Prediction is for high winds, too, which will make driving treacherous. I'm very glad I walk to work!

Misha! Didn't know you were in WA, altho our weather systems are so different, it's amazing how right over Snoqualmie it changes so much. But ha you say people there don't know how to drive in anything more than in inch, here people freak from a mere dusting. Actually, it was beautifully sunny today, even with the lack of precipitation. I sat outside almost all day with a fleece sweater-jacket on top of my sweatshirt, hoody pulled up, and fingerless gloves so I could read. Oh I wish it would just snow though. It's not fair to be this freakin' cold without it!

Yes we did get that storm last year too. Our big tree that usually branches over the street at rooftop level was weighed down by ice to touch the road. We had tops of pine trees crackling and falling all over the place, took out electricity in many parts of the city, but the packed snow on our hill made sledding a blast!I would def miss the rare snowing if I lived in a place like that Kayla, but I'd trade the dismal rain for that anyday. :)
Um... yeah haha. I am in Hawaii (Maui). But I don't know, I just not fit for this place. I like cold. It's hot. I want snow. None here. I actually don't really like the beach (Yes, I know. That is very strange.). All there to do here is going to the beach... I'm moving in a couple months though. I graduate in 172 days (not that I'm counting or anything haha.) then I'm out of here. :)

Kayla, if you don't mind the dismal rain and love green scenery and mountains, you'd love the Pacific NW (Oregon & Washington states). I have friends here who are big time Portlanders who go camping & hiking all year round, and then skiing in the winter. And it can be really beautiful.I think some people are just more suited to certain climates. I think I might be a Coloradoan by nature. I'd love to have deep snow all winter. :)
Yeah I've actually been looking at Oregon, Washington, Colorado and New England area for college. That is exactly what I say, some people are just more suited to certain climates, but no one here seems to understand. Apparently everyone LOVES it here and I'm like odd man out.
I hear ya. I get that a lot living in Oregon. "But it's so green and beautiful here, and you can do so many things." But I'm miserable during the 8+ months that it rains. I think Colorado sounds amazing.
I wouldn't mind the sunshine if it didn't burn me so badly. I'm not all that pale (just pale for Hawaii) but the sun burns my skin if I'm under it's constant rays for 20 mins. That's all it takes. I would like a milder sun.
I'm SO pissed off that my mother's gotten snow TWICE (and it's STUCK) in friggin Houston, TX since the last time we've had snow. Even New Orleans had snow accumulation. I want some mother f*ckin' snow.
It's just starting to snow here this morning! They are predicting 6 to 9 inches. Time to put the snowboots in my car...or should I say moonboots? I wish I still had a pair.

We're supposed to get 10 - 14" Greta, we seem to be in the high snow path. But they've been wrong before. It is only flurrying now, and it was supposed to be snowing already. The bad part is supposed to be the wind that comes after the snow though.

The meterologists just get so excited about the snow, too. Last night they were looking so gleeful as they described the winter storm coming. And then when we don't get as much snow as they predicted, they seem let down. I have the day off work tomorrow, so I'm ready to hunker down with some hot cocoa and watch it fly.
Except sometimes they get delighted at the wrong things. Like heavy rain and wind storms! That will last 5 days! Watch out for flooding! Dire consequences! If you can avoid the floating Evergreen bridge, that would be best! I've been waiting for months for something of this magnitude!
But I think you're right -- it just proves they are in the right profession. Who else gets that excited about the weather? I have to confess my family obsessively watches the weather channel. If there is a hint of a storm, they take cover. For some reason it's had the opposite affect on me. I have a hard time retreating to the basement when I'm supposed to.
All it takes is a glass of warm water, huh? I always picture them out there with a blow dryer -- but where you gonna plug that thing in? Extension cord?
That's brilliant! I've had the same thing happen here. I just didn't have enough extension cords to attempt the same solution. There was lots of crying and pounding on the door.
