I like this barre move, the grande battements, and developpes... Do any of you do jazz? That's my favorite type of dance after lyrical, and most of my favorite moves are in that category.... I even invented a move in jazz/lyrical.... it hurts your hip though...
pas de chats and entrechats quatre (I haven't done ballet for 3 or 4 years, I do Irish Dancing now and we use entrechat quatre but they're danced with a straight leg and they're called double jumps!)
Oh hey, I think we call those flutters! I do Irish dance too and I've heard that term from one of my new teachers :)

I've been off dance class since April with various injuries I'm going back in September just before I turn 30. I also take creative writing which takes up more of my time than dance class. I haven't learnt anything new in over a year but I'm definitely going back because if i don't i'll put on weight again and i would rather avoid that

Oh I see :) There are a LOT of adult dancers at my studio, and by adult, I mean much older than 30 so congrats at getting started relative young for an adult :D There are also a bunch of people at my studio that dance pretty much just to keep in shape and have fun, so there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing that :) It's really cool you decided to start Irish dancing. It's a really unique sport and yes, it does keep you quite in shape. I hope your injuries heal fast! :) (Oh, and by the way, creative writing is awesome too)

I am definitely going to try that! :)

Oh! Thanks again! I really did not know that! I guess it makes sense, about the water resistance... heh so i guess i DEFINITELY try that! ;)
I used to do ballet and tap and at one time i did Highland and at another time i did Modern, that was when i was much younger and right before my exams i would do barre work in the water and then i would go through the routines and if it was a grade work year would go through all the exercises i needed to pass and the routine as well. my mum was usually in the sauna or swimming at the other end of the poolwe used to alternate between grades and medals but only for tap, ballet, Highland, Modern and Jazz. the only class i didn't take was Jazz
oh, I've never taken Highland or Modern, I've never even heard of it! But I really like jazz, I don't really like tap because of the teacher i have, and i sometimes find ballet boring.
I love doing Balancé. Totally beginner, but my teacher is awesome and adds pirouettes and stuff so it makes it more challenging. :)
