Delayed Depraved :(

I'm sorry to report that I am going to delay the reading of Bryan Smith's Depraved. But don't despair, it will be our next book, I promise, right after Simon Clark's Vampyrrhic! The problem is that I don't actually have Depraved yet, and seeing as how I would like to read it, I am going to put it off for now. But like I said, it will be the first book of the new year for The Blood Book Club!!!

Philip, I hope you weren't trying to turn people off of the book with that description! You probably did just the opposite!

I actually hate the terms like "torture porn" and "gorno" (although gorno is a new one to me). It really doesn't make much sense. Unless you are watching pornos that have people being tortured (which I'm sure there are plenty of), then you are not partaking in torture porn. A book or movie with lots of violence is not torture porn, gore porn, gorno or torno, or any kind of porn. It's just a really violent book or movie.

Darling Readers, I love the term Gorno. We should make up some more terms. I'm adding Dick Lit (the opposite of Chick Lit). It's killing me not to start Depraved tonight. I am holding off until Jan. 1. That's will power! Wonder why I can't quit smoking.

Gorno is a term I saw reviewers throwing around when the SAW movies took off. I think most movie reviewers settled on the term 'torture porn' to describe movies like SAW, Touristias and Captivity.

I always preferred Gorno.

Would Dick Lit be all those military themed action novels like the Tom Clancy stuff?

I'm holding off too, I'm in the Leisure book club, so I got Depraved as part of my monthly package a few months ago. I'm reading The Pilo Family Circus instead.
