Bakeshow So was it just me- or was this book totally hard to read the first time through? I missed Edward so much it hurt. I am not one to cheat and read ahead, but I found myself scanning the next page for the italic thoughts that I believed belonged to Edward.

As hard as it was though (until Italy) I have to say I loved the book even MORE the second time. Maybe it was because I knew he was going to come back, in fact, I'm sure that's why I liked it better the second time. I didn't spend all my time freaking out- I was able to concntrate more on the relationship with Bella and Jake. At first I hated Jake- but the second time through the series, I really felt Bella's pain at the decision. Glad i didn't have to make it.

Becky It was definatly a hard read with how strong a character Edward is and to have only a memory of him for so long SUCKED actually missing the entire Cullen Family was hard, but I fell for Jacob it is interesting to see where it will go from Eclipse!

I think New Moon was so great because Edward wasn't in it very much! Him being gone gave everyone a chance to get to know Jacob and fall in love with him! I love jake (not with bella of course, but...) and I hate Edward, so New Moon was great for me! I loved it! I wish bella would have been too late...then Edward would be dead...happy thoughts...:)♥

Sabrina It was hard to read because I lov edward and he was hardly in it.

Naomi thats the beauty of it Sabrina.
i'm with my sister! edward MUST die!!!!!! woot!!!!

Sabrina I thought that without Edward bella seemed a little less flat but still... he is an important character and I missed him in this book.

Naomi i thought she was depressing and anoiying. she was practically a zombie, never talked or did anything else and it really got on my nerves.

Lisa I did read ahead. The last two or three pages. Not enough to realize it was Jacob telling the story. So I read the whole book waiting for Bella to get changed into a werewolf and wondering why she was running away from Jacob Black at the end of the book. Obviously had to go back and reread it. Cheaters never prosper, but it would certainly have made for a different story.

Laura Lisa - I got a good chuckle thinking about that tonight. Thanks.
And, I'm sure many will disagree (my entire book club in fact) but this is my favorite of the three out so far. I didn't relate to Bella in the first book as much - but I felt her pain in this one and that made her more likeable for me. And I really enjoy Jacob so I liked seeing their friendship develop.
I know most people dislike Bella's zombie nature once Edward leaves - but I remember crying myself to sleep for a MONTH when a boyfriend broke up with me in high school and - while I'll admit NOW that it was pathetic - it was where I was at at the time.

Naomi yeah i no the person she "loved" left her but seriously how long was she like that? like six monthes she was like that. i hated it so much

Sabrina I agree that Edward should not have left her that long. I mean come on. I can see a week but six months! I would have todally gotten over him by then.

Rachel I agree with you completely. It was hard for me to enjoy the book as much as possible without Edward. He is my secret crush and without him the books seemed emptier. Especially because I didn't want Bella to end up with Jacob. I was fighting my urge to enjoy the book the entire time until Edward came back. I was filled with delight! :D
