Ooh! I wrote one for school about the Mississippi River (we're reading Huck Finn). Here it is:

My waters as blue
As sapphire sky
I am purity.

The trees on my banks,
Always standing sentinel,
I am the watcher.

The skiffs and steamboats
Are filled with travelling men.
I am the transport.

Cattails extend like
Dophins reaching for the sky.
I am their life source.

Lonlieness, depair,
They say unpredicable,
I am nature's will.

Fish in the thickets
Though Hestia I am not,
I am hearth and home.

Humans and critters
Live in harmony with me
I am the stanchion.

The rushes grow clumped
All along my solemn shores
I am existence.

Banks walled with timber
And troublesome to trave'lers
I am fortified.

Men follow me and
My crafty, changing currents.
I am the highway.

I reckon I am
