message 201: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments Caius also looked interested.
Machiko murmured something inaudible and fell unconcious again.
Kacia looked at her friend.
"We're running out of time. Tell us what to do"

message 202: by [deleted user] (new)

If only Talamar knew what to do. Svartr would have been shouting if he was human, he was so filled with urgency, worry, and anger at the delays. But he was an elf. Of course he wouldn't go.
"Svartr," he tried again. "Go."
Svartr looked at him coldly, angry that he would continue to try and convince him to do what he most wanted. If Machiko hadn't been so injured he would have been long gone by now.
Talamar sighed with frustration. Concentrating hard, he made his own soul light appear, a large one that was swirling with black anxiety and red impatience. It lit the fog around them somewhat.
"We'll follow it," he said, "Because it's exactly the kind of thing Cristina would do. But we don't have to follow it blindly."
Then, inexplicably, his soul light went out.

message 203: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only Kacia had been more prepared she would have noticed the shadow slipping towards her a while ago.
She let out a scream as she was lifted into the air.
Caius gave a shout of alarm and dodged out of the way as another shadowy figure lunged at him.

message 204: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I knew why shadows seem so familiar....:D

"This solve your problem?" Talamar grunted as he lashed out at another shadow with his sword, which was soul piercing.
"Caius," Svartr said quickly. "Go back through with Machiko before the entrance is sealed. We'll meet up with you later."
Svartr unsheathed his own soul piercing scimitar and started thrusting at the shadows with conservative movements. He wasn't sure how long they would have to fight.

message 205: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could think of something else but that is currently on my mind. ;)

Caius nodded and leapt back through the portal.
Kacia was trying to fight the shadow but it was a losing battle as one of it's hands closed around her neck cutting off her wind pipe.

message 206: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I could say sorry for taking so long to reply!

Svartr felt a sense of relief as he saw Caius and Machiko successfully leave. He saw Kacia's plight in an instant and severed the shadow in two with an expert stroke of the sword. Smiling at Kacia, suddenly elated, he said "I hope you'll forgive me if I wasn't the one you wanted to rescue you."
"Pah!" Talamar said, watching a shadow dissolve around his rapier. He noticed Svartr's good mood with a sense of unease. The elf was no longer saving his energy but plunging into the morass of shadows with savage pleasure. And traveling in the direction of the light. No doubt with Caius and Machiko gone he felt free to pursue Cristina.
Seeing his glance, Svartr gestured impatiently. "We must hurry! If the shadows are attacking her, she will not hold out long."

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could say that's fine...I've been gone for awhile as well

Kacia had caught her breath but she smiled at Svartr.
"I don't care who saved me I'm just grateful for it."

Caius looked around and groaned.
"This is bad."
The place he was in was not the original world he Machiko and Kacia had landed in. It was totally different and there was a demonic aura about it. He stood in the middle of what appeared to be a dark windswept morland.

message 208: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I could say wow - the group keeps splitting up into tiny pieces.

Svartr nodded to Kacia and continued hacking his way forward with no signs of tiring. Talamar stayed in back, keeping Kacia in between them. His rapier flickered with deadly accuracy, severing shadows. Then, as one, the shadows dispersed.
"This can't be good," Talamar said into the complete silence that followed.

message 209: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could say yup!

Kacia looked around nervously then suddenly her cell phone started rining.
((lol bet you didn't see that coming!))

Come on Kacia pick up! Caius begged holding Maciko's cell phone so close to his ear that it's ringing resonated in his skull. He could feel Machiko slipping so he settled to the ground and slid her from his back carefully onto the gound.

message 210: by [deleted user] (new)

If only Tash and Svartr knew what a cell phone was. ((and I most certainly did not see that coming. Cell phones are useful for unexpectedness in writing, aren't they :D))

"What's that?" Talamar asked sharply. His gaze focused in on Kacia. "I would reprimand you for being so loud, Kacia, but I think we've already made ourselves known to anything that lives here."

message 211: by Eloradenin (last edited Mar 13, 2010 10:43PM) (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could say haha it's my turn to be unpredictable!

Kacia took out her cell andanswered it with a bite to her voice.
"What?!"
"Kacia it's Caius" his voice crackled through the cell phone, "Can you hear me?"
"Yeah I can hear you idiot why are you calling me on Machiko's phone?!"
"Well we're kinda in a situation. See...we're in a completely different world than the one we originally came from."
"WHAT?! What does that mean?!"
She dodged out of a shadows way so she barely caught Caius's next words before the line went dead.
"It means we're lost and in touble. Major trouble."
Kacia put the phone back in her pocket cursing.
"Crap they're lost!"

message 212: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I knew where this was going...

Svartr and Talamar heard both sides of the conversation, and adapted quickly to the concept of scrying with tiny metal devices. Talamar scarcely waited for Kacia to put her phone away before bellowing "CRISTINA!"
Svartr winced, but didn't protest.

Cristina stopped as she heard a distant yell. It could be the others. the light ahead of her was still moving away... She turned around, sick of following it.

message 213: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I knew...

Kacia jumped in surprise at the yell and covered her ears.

Caius cursed his luck. His cell had died before he could tell Kacia anything about the world he and Machiko were in. He looked around nervously tensed in anticipation of danger.

message 214: by [deleted user] (new)

If only...

Talamar glanced at Kacia. "Sorry about that."
"I'm guessing you didn't imagine something so small could be so loud," Svartr said, amused.
Talamar shot him a look that was inherently younger than his fifteen year old appearance. He stuck out his tongue for good measure, then suddenly said "Did you hear that?"
Svartr was already gone.

"SVARTR! TALAMAR!" Cristina called again. She sat down, determined not to move until she made sure it wasn't them she had heard.
Svartr arrived at the same time as the shadows.

message 215: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments Gah! If only my keyboard would work properly with the internet!

Kacia looked at the place where Svartr had been.
"He's fast isn't he?"

A rustling behind him made Caius jump and whirl to find a strange creature with large black eyes pearing at him from witin the bush.

message 216: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I had named my computer, so I can yell at it when it freezes. - Well, I did, but I forgot what I called it.

Talamar wore a wry look. "And he calls me theatrical. Well, let's get going." He headed toward the source of the noise.

"Svartr," Cristina said in relief. She had out a tiny knife from a wrist sheath, and nothing else.
Svartr didn't waste his breath on words. The shadows were so thick they were almost corporeal, and he was under no illusions of the limits of his strength. He handed Cristina a long knife, and they paired off back to back and settled into grim, methodical fighting.

message 217: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could lol at that!

Kacia nodded and followed after him.

Caius growled back at the creature and readied himself for the change.
Anyone that threatens Machiko is an enemy and must be stopped

message 218: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I felt like laughing when it freezes lol

Talamar battled his way through the morass of shadows until he reached Cristina and Svartr.
"A lot of trouble you've caused," he said to Cristina.
"I saw a hole in a tree. What did you think would happen?"
"We cannot keep fighting like this," murmured Svartr. "Eventually we will be overwhelmed."
Talamar nodded. "Let's surrender - then at least we won't be exhausted when we face whatever it is that is against us." He poked Cristina with a free hand, the other severing a shadow from its head. "What do you think? And you, Kacia?"

message 219: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I did too

Kacia nodded.
"I don't think I can keep this up for much longer especially since I'm worried about Machiko and that idiot wolf."

The creature let out a strange screeching sound and leapt from the bushes. It appeared to be a large cat with black wings and pincers.
What the he** is that?! Caius shifted quickly and readied to attack.

message 220: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I could think of something to say 'if only' about...

"Fine," Cristina huffed, throwing her knife to the ground. She was intensely aware that she was the weakest element to the party.
Svartr winced at her cavalier treatment of his knife, and set his sword down more carefully. Talamar did the same.

message 221: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only!

Kacia was the only one that had never been armed. She put her hands up in surrender.

The creature stalked forward towards Caius and Machiko. Caius put back his lips in a snarl and showed his sharp teeth. The creature hesitated for a second.

message 222: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I could ask - is the four corners group based on something? Or is it just a made-up rp?

They watched as the shadows hesitated, then dispersed, leaving behind a tense silence.
Talamar opened his mouth. Cristina poked him, glaring.
"What?" he asked, indignant.
"This is where you make one of your sarcastic comments," she said. "Frankly, I'm a bit sick of them."
Talamar started to retort, but she was right. That, and the fact that she was trembling and white with poorly disguised fear made him silent once more.
Svartr looked at her with concern, but couldn't think of anything to say. Elves did not usually discuss anything that had any relevance, and he was poorly practiced at it.

message 223: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could answer...It's kinda based off Avatar the last airbender but without the whole Avatar thing...other than that it's completely out of my imagination

Kacia glared at her.
"Frankly I would like a bit of sarcasm instead of this cold silence."

When the creature lunged Caius was ready. He caught the creature with his paws and flung it back forcefully.

message 224: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I could say Avatar is awesome. Can't wait till the movie comes out - hope they don't spoil it.

Cristina shrugged, not trusting herself to respond, though normally she'd admirably rise to the occasion. She had just realized that she had almost died away from home and family, the shock setting in belatedly. She wasn't at her best, adn she was quickly realizing as well that she'd prefer sarcasm as well.
Talamar sighed, wishing humans thought more and conveniently forgetting the fact that he could be human himself. "And what's making it cold, Kacia?"

message 225: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could agree whole heartedly

Kacia sighed.
"The arguing, it's very unpleasant to listen to and it seems to be making the air colder. I don't like that."

The creature came back and struck at Caius biting into his leg. Caius howled in pain.

message 226: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I could say Caius doesn't seem to be having a very good time.

Both Talamar and Svartr were startled at the comment. Not even Cristina was that frank, and they had both become accustomed to thinking of her as the representative of human nature.
Cristina sent Kacia a small, apologetic smile, just as the voice erupted all around them.

message 227: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could agree

Kacia covered her ears to make the voice's volume soften a bit. The air had suddenly grown even colder.

Caius kicked the creature in the jaw and sent it flying again. He was panting now and blood gushed from the wound in his leg but he couldn't give up, not till the creature either gave up and left or he killed it.

message 228: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I could say it's totally your turn to decide what this thing is saying :D

Talamar hissed as he recognized what creature they were dealing with. "Svartr--"
Then they heard what it was saying.

message 229: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could

Kacia stared in horror.
"It wants blood..." She took a step backward, "But I didn't think there were any other creatures that wanted blood besides vampires and that is no vampire." she hissed to Talamar.

The creature came back for another charge and this time Caius was sent flying.

message 230: by [deleted user] (new)

Talamar's hands clenched and unclenched at his sides, as though he were regretting the release of his weapon. Svartr touched the bow he had on his shoulder.
"No," said the boy quietly. "That's not a vampire. That's a varkolak." Svartr inhaled sharply. "A former highwayman," Talamar continued, "now undead. He'll either rob us - likely, considering the nice stash of elven weaponry we have - or drink our blood...or eat us. Or," he added with grim humor, "all three."
"Talamar," Svartr said dryly, one hand now firmly gripping his bow, "you have a sense of the macabre that can be very unhelpful at times. I thought you didn't want to support moroi stereotypes."
Talamar couldn't quite find his court drawl. "I'm sorry if I disappointed your sense of aesthetics, Svartr," he snapped. "They needed to know. I don't suppose you have any idea on how to suitably downplay a varkolak."
"No," Svartr said quietly. "Especially not now that we've surrendered."

message 231: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments Kacia was beginning to grasp the seriousness of the situation and rubbed her ankles together to reassure herself that the small dagger she kept there was still secure. If worse came to worse she could use it.

Caius slammed into a tree and crumpled to the ground in a groaning heap. He was certain one of his legs was broken but he still managed to stagger back up onto all four paws. He had sworn to protect Machiko till he was killed and that was what he was going to do no matter what.

message 232: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I could express adequately how fun it is to say the word 'varkolak'. Go ahead - try it.

Cristina was far more worried by the seriousness of her companions than by an undead creature she'd never heard of before. It sounded like a nightmare inexpertly mashed up into one form - too much to be true. Except, Talamar and Svartr looked truly worried.
"Speak English!" she called out sharply, angry with herself for being worried.

message 233: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could agree with you that's awesome!

Kacia wanted to curse Cristina for drawing more attention to them.
"Do you really want the details?" she hissed.

There blood matted in Caius's fur but he was glad that at least some of it wasn't his. The creature readied to attack him again.
Machiko stirred.

message 234: by [deleted user] (new)

If only I could say sorry! I forgot it was my turn :)

"I'd rather know what I'm facing!" Cristina hissed back.
She almost changed her mind as the voice obliged her.

message 235: by Eloradenin (new)

Eloradenin (animalsaremyeverything) | 392 comments If only I could say sorry for being away for nearly a year!

Kacia waited in anticipation and fear. She was certain that she had never faced anything of this caleber before.
"Talamar." she whispered, "What do we do?"

Caius readied himself spitting blood out onto the forest floor.
Come one creature. Let's end this
