Caleb's body jerked violently, and took in a deep breath before lying still once more, the soft rise and fall of his chest being the only difference.

Rebecca smiled at her worked and got up. "Go make sure we won't be seen," she told Alek. Alek nodded and went back to where she and Caleb had been. When there was no one around he let her know and they were back under the tree just as they were.
Alek left and Rebecca removed the spell and shook Calebs shoulder lightly. "Hey wake up," she said quietly.
Caleb groaned, and stirred, opening his eyes slowly. "What happened?" he asked. "I feel like a truck hit me."
"You fell asleep," Rebecca said. "And I'm guessing not very comfortably. Do you want to just do reschedual? You seem pretty beat."
Caleb nodded. "Yeah, I feel terrible." he said, standing up a bit shakily and leaning heavily on the tree.
"Careful," Rebecca said, grabbing his arm to steady him, but quickly letting go to avoid him noticing that she wasn't a vampire anymore.
Caleb gained his balance, then grabbed his backpack.
"I'll see you tomorrow at school," Rebecca said.
Caleb nodded, and walked away slowly.
Rebecca got in her car and went home.
Caleb walked home, going to sleep as soon as he arrived.
Rebecca went home to find Alek there waiting. She put her stuff in her room before going down into the basement. "Well I'm sure my mom will love that," she said, refering to the carvings in the door.
Zach sat in the corner of the basement farthest from the door, and didn't look up when she came in.
Rebecca knelt down beside him and lightly ran her fingers through his hair. "I am so so sorry," she whispered.
Zach folded in on himself, trying to make himself smaller in order to get away from her touch.
Rebecca sighed and moved her hand to rub his back.
Zach put his head in his hands, and they fisted in his hair as he whispered, "Go away."
Rebecca shook her head. "Can't do that," she said.
"Why not? You've done a great job of it these past couple of weeks." Zach said, bitter sarcasm entering his voice.
"I had to, I'm sorry," Rebecca said.
"Why?" Zach asked, and his voice broke, though because he was a vampire, his eyes didn't well up.
Rebecca decided to stop lying about why he was in the basement. "To starve you," she told him. "So I could turn human and make it so that you'll have no choice but to drink my blood and turn human with it."
"No." Zach said simply, even though her words caused the scent of her blood to register in his mind, and he clutched his hair tighter to keep control.
"You won't have a choice," Rebecca said. Then she cast the same spell she'd used on Caleb, knowing that it wouldn't have the same effect but hoping that it would knock him out for a few minutes.
A strange feeling fell over Zach. He vaguely recognized it, but it wasn't until he fell unconscious that he realized what he felt was almost equal to tiredness, something he hadn't experience in a while.
Alek came down to the basement and carved a circle into the cement. Rebecca teleported her and Zach into the middle of the circle. She took out a piece of broken glass and cut her finger with it. She used used the blood ot write a "V" on Zach's hand and an "M" on her own.
Rebecca took off the spell and made a small cut in her palm, cupping her hand so the blood would pool.
Zach lunged in the direction of the scent of the blood before he could stop himself.
Rebecca lifted her hand so he could get at it.
Zach grabbed her hand, bit into it, and started drinking.
Rebecca whimpered in pain but made no move to pull away.
Zach barely heard as the sweet taste of her blood flowed into his mouth, human blood tasting even semi-appetizing for the first time.
Rebecca placed her free hand over his chest, over his heart, wanting to feel its first beat.
Rebecca started to feel dizzy from the blood loss.
Eventually Zach drank enough that his heart started to beat.
Rebecca felt the heart beat and smiled weakly. "I love you," she whispered as she kissed the top of his head. Then a garbled sigh passed her lips, her eyes slid shut, and her hand fell limply away from him.
The feeling of his heart in his chest shocked Zach so bad, he dropped her. Then seeing her lifeless body nearly made his heart stop again.
Alek stepped inbetween them, into his line of sight. "There's a slight chance I may be able to bring her back," he said. "But she told me to make sure that you want that before I tried."
"What do you mean?" Zach asked, his voice sounding far away even to his own ears.
"Well she said that given everything that happened you might not want her and if that's the case I shouldn't even try to bring her back," Alek said. "Now quickly because we don't have a lot of time do you want me to try to bring her back.
"Bring her back." Zach said, but even as he said it, he turned away from the scene, unable to look.
"It's not deffinate that I can do it," Alek said. "You should know that I'm going to give it my best chance."
"Yeah. Whatever." Zach said, "I - I have to go right now." then he left the room without waiting for a response.
Alek worked as fast as could repeating wjat he did to Caleb. Then he started pumping Rebecca's heart before calling Zach back.
Zach didn't come back. Instead, he ran home, not stopping when he got a stitch in his side, or when his lungs burned for air because he's missed those feelings so much.
Get back here now, or else there is no chance, Alek growled in Zachs head.
What in the world do you need me for? Zach asked, his tone just as angry. Now that the novelty of a hearbeat was wearing off, the anger was settling in.
I guess I don't, but you have to choose if you want her as a human or a vampire. There's a higher chance of her coming back as a vampire. Alek said.
