"You could say that." Adrian said, circling him slowly. "Tell me, Seth, have you ever thought about. . .how you would die?"

"No," Seth said moving toward the door.
Adrian stepped between him and the door. "That's funny. Cuz I've given it a lot of thought."
"Jake you're scaring me," Seth said taking a step back.
"Good." Adrian said, phasing back into her regular form. "But I'm not Jake."
Jacob came in then. "Get away from him," he snarled.
Adrian turned around, smiling. "Why?" she asked. "We were just getting to know each other." she said, wrapping an arm around Seth's neck in a way that, with anyone else, would look friendly if not for the fact that she was holding him so tightly she was practically choking him.
"Oh." Adrian said with mock disappointment. "That's not good enough. I know, how about a trade?" she said, her tone turning excited, as if the idea just came to her and she thought it was brilliant. "Him. For her."
"Never," Jacob said. "Here's my idea they both live and you die."
Adrian sighed. "You're forgetting one thing." she said, as if her having to explain this were so unnecessary.
"His neck is in my hands." Adrian said, squeezing harder and cutting off Seth's air.
"You got a problem take it up with me," Jacob said. "Leave the kid out of it."
"But that's not as fun." Adrian said. "You aren't afraid of me. But you are afraid of me hurting the people you love. Oh, and bonus. It shows you what happens when you kill my brother."
Jacob stepped forward and took hold of Adrian's arm, the one holding Seth. "You wanna see a cool trick that comes with years of experience?" he asked. Then claws like the ones he has in wolf form dug into her arm.
Adrian cried out once in pain, and let go. "Want to know a trick I've learned?" then she shifted into Susannah and sent flames to the hand that had her arm.
Seth fell to his knees gasping for air.Jacob dropped her arm and shook the flames off. "Flashy," he said. "Too showy for my taste."
"Well I've always liked the phrase 'up in flames'." she said. "Not to mention the fact that the last time you beat me, I was wearing Susannah's face. I think it would be very climatic for me to beat you using the same technique."
"Well atleast this time I won't have to knock her out," Jacob said. "I can just kill you without hesitation. Besides youre already wounded. What makes you think you can take me?"
"Taking you wasn't the plan for today. It was killing him." she said, pointing at Seth and sending a stream of flame at him.
Jacob kicked Seth in the shoulder so that he fell over onto his side, the flames narrowly missing him.
"Oh! So close!" Adrian said with irritation.
"That's as close as you are ever going to get," Jacob said.
"Look, you killed my brother!" Adrian shouted angrily. "So I'm killing one of yours. Seems fair. You didn't have to kill him. He killed one girl. There are billions of them in the world! I only had one brother!"
"I don't care if there are a million other girls in this state alone, tgere is only the one Susannah. Besides I doubt thatshe was the first you tolwo have killed, and there's only one Seth Clearwater."
"I don't know." Adrian said. "A life for a life seems pretty fair to me."
"And that's what was paid," Jacob said. "He snapped her neck and I dug my teeth into his."
"But she didn't stay dead, did she?" Adrian said. "Whereas he's. Still. Dead."
"That's because you dont have as many friends as us if any," Jacob said. "And if you have any they aren't as powerful."
"I think it's cheating." Adrian said. "You don't play fair, and some how I'm the evil one?"
"Oh that's easy I am not a cold blooded killer," Jacob said, helping Seth to his feet.
"Its spring." Adrian said. "Got to keep cool some how." then she sent another wave of flame at them.
Jacob shoved Seth and himself apart so the flames went between them. Then he shoved Seth out the door and shut it.
Adrian was getting mad and frustrated, so she thrust her arms forward, sending a large burst of flame at the door, and another one at Jacob.
The door burnt down, but Seth was already off and running. Jacob ducked and rolled to the side to avoid the flames.
"Well this is pointless." Adrian said. "I should just go after the red haired thorn in my side while you're here." with that she sent flames across the whole span of the house before shifting into Zach and running towards Susannah's house.
Jacob swore under his breath then quickly called Susannah, praying she would pick up.
"Hello?" Susannah answered as she headed downstairs to answer a door knock.
"Get out of the house right now," Jacob said quickly. "I don't care wear you go but Adrian will be there any second."
"Ok, I'm heading downstairs anyway." Susannah said. "Someone just knocked on the door."
"I don't think answering is a very good idea," Jacob said wearily.
"How do you expect me to leave the house?" Susannah said, her hand on the doorknob. "There's only one door."
"The same way I do," Jacob suggested.
"Ok. So my options are answer door to someone who may or may not kill me, or climb out my window and risk breaking my neck. . .again?" Susannah asked as whoever was outside knocked again.
"If that's her there's very little chance I can get there in time," Jacob said.
"But I don't like going out of the window!" Susannah complained as she left the door closed and started heading up the stairs. "But my mom shouldn't be home right now, so at least she won't answer the door either. Thanks for the warning." she said before hanging up and climbing out of the window.
Jacob ran to Susannah's house hoping that when he got there she'd be okay.
Susannah was walking in the opposite direction of where her house was.Adrian was at the door when Mrs. Summers answered it. She was just heading out when she noticed Susannah had never answered the door. "May I help you?" she asked.
Adrian looked at her thoughtfully. Then she shrugged. "Good enough." she said and she quickly and cleanly snapped Mrs. Summer's neck in revenge for her brother.
Jacob ran into Susannah and pulled him into his arms quickly. "Thank God you're alright," he said.
