Zach knocked on the Black's door. He needed to get home, but he couldn't go without saying sorry to Susannah, so he figured she might be at Jacob's house.

Jacob gently moved Susannah off his lap and went to answer the door. He saw Zach and growled quietly instantly assuming that he was there because Rebecca ordered him to be. He stepped outside and shut the door behind him. "You can just go and tell Rebecca that she is never getting anywhere Susannah again," he said.
Zach put his hands up in surrender. "Believe me, I've guessed that already. I just came here to apologize." he said sincerely.
"Well she can't really talk right now but I'll tell her you stopped by," Jacob said.
"Then I'll apologize to her later." Zach said. "But I also want to apologize to you, Jacob."
"It's not your fault," Jacob said. "You didn't have a choice when you brought her to Rebecca."
Zach nodded. "I know, but still. Anyway, I just wanted to say that. Oh, and she might want to get home soon, I heard her mom wondering where she is."
Jacob nodded. "Alright," he said. "I'll get her home in a bit."
Jacob went back inside and put a hand on Susannah's shoulder. "Hey," he said softly. "Come on we should get you home before your mom thinks you've been kidnapped."
"That's not a completely ridiculous assumption." Susannah said, waking up.
"Well you were last seen with me so that would make me prime suspect number one," Jacob said.
"Which would not be good." Susannah said, standing. "So I need to get home."
"I'll walk you," Jacob said.
"Ok." Susannah said, taking his hand as she started walking.
Jacob walked slowly taking it easy while Susannah was still weak from blood loss.
"It's scary." Susannah said as they walked.
"That Adrian seemed to know so much about me." Susannah explained.
"Well I think that when they turn into people they gain more than just their appearance," Jacob said.
"Yeah, I guess I can understand that." Susannah said. "But still. It's freaky that they can do that. She knew things I've never told anyone."
"Not even me," Jacob said remembering what Adrian said Susannah not being able to tell him how she felt.
Jacob tried to keep the hurt from finding out that Susannah didn't feel she could tell him everything off his face and for the most part he thought he had been successful but he wasn't positive.
Susannah stopped him. "Hey, wait." she said, looking at him closely. She wasn't sure what it was, but something about Jacob didn't seem right. "Is everything ok?" she asked. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine," Jacob lied. "I'm just worried about you." He finished truthfully.
"Why are you worried about me?" Susannah asked.
"Have you seen your wrists and neck lately?" Jacob asked
"Actually no." Susannah answered. "I. . .I don't want to see it. But there's something else bothering you, isn't there? That's not how you look when you're worried." she said.
"Fine," Jacob said, defeated. "It bugs me that I didn't know what Adrian did. I feel like you don't trust me enough to tell me everything."
"No, no, no, no, no," Susannah said quickly, "Forget everything that b!tc# said, because she said it wrong." Susannah ran a hand through her hair in frustration as she thought about how to phrase what she wanted to say. "It's not that I don't want to tell you, or that I don't trust you. I just don't know how. I haven't the slightest clue on how to tell you how much I love you. Or how I love you so much, with every fiber of my being, every breath I take, every piece of my soul. That I trust you absolutely and completely, more than I trust anyone else. And that if anything were to happen to you - " Susannah broke off as tears came to her eyes, and she pushed them back before continuing. "I just don't know how to say it." she finished.
"I think you just did," Jacob pointed out to her with a small half smile.
Susannah backtracked, thinking about what she'd just said. "Hm. I guess I did." she said, honestly surprised.
Jacob kissed her softly. "And you know what," he smiled. "I feel the same."
"I know you do." Susannah said, smiling. "You tell me all the time. I was afraid that you didn't know I felt the same as you do because I couldn't tell you the right way."
"I do know," Jacob said. "Now and then. Oh and Zach came by looking for you."
"Wait, hold off on Zach." Susannah said. "Why only now and then? What can I do so that you know always?" she asked. This was exactly the kind of miscommunication of feelings she was afraid of that could bring their strange, often tested, relationship to the ground.
"I meant I knew it then just like I know now after you told me," Jacob said.
"Oh, ok, good." Susannah said, reassured now. "So, what were you saying about Zach?"
"He came by to apologize about taking you to Rebecca " Jacob told her.
"Well that's nice of him." Susannah said.
"Thanks for walking me home." Susannah said as they arrived at her house.
"No problem," Jacob said. "I'm gonna let you out of my sight for now but I'll pick you for school first thing tomorrow, alright?"
Susannah nodded. "Alright." she said.
Jacob kissed Susannah's forehead then went to make arrangements for the next day.
Susannah walked inside. The plan was to sneak past her mother so she wouldn't see the bandages on her wrists, but that plan was shot as soon as Susannah tripped over some pots that were in the walkway. Her mom came out, looking a little flustered. "Sorry, dear, I was trying to cook, and these pots were in the way." her mom said, helping her up.
After he was done taking care of what he needed to Jacob shifted and stood watch in the woods near Susannah's.
"Oh my, Susannah, what happened here?" Ms. Summers said, looking at Susannah's bandaged wrists. "Um, nothing. I just. . .fell." Susannah said.
"You fell again?" Ms. Summers said, looking like she didn't believe her at all. "Let me see." and before Susannah could tell her no, her mom had moved one of the bandages to see the very deliberate looking cuts. "Those don't look like they come from falling." her mom said.
"Mom, it's nothing, really." And before her mother could reply, Susannah dashed up to her room.
Jacob just watched, not sensing any immediate danger.
