"Why so quiet?" Jacob asked as they walked.

Susannah shrugged. "I guess because I have nothing to say. I told you pretty much everything that was on my mind this morning and things haven't changed much since then."
"And the reason for your lack of words?" Susannah asked.
"Nothing to say i guess," Jacob smiled.
Susannah smiled back. "Then let's not talk." she said as she rested her head on Jacob's shoulder as they walked.
Jacob wrapped an arm around Susannah's waist and rested his head on hers.
Susannah walked quietly, enjoying the companionable silence.
Jacob smiled at the peacefulness and kissed the top of Susannah's head.
Susannah enjoyed the sound of the leaves under their feet and the animals moving in the trees. She could almost forget about everything that was still scary and unknown.
Not much later the trees began to thin and soon they parted at Jacobs house.
"Was your house that color when you guys bought it?" Susannah asked.
"I don't know," Jacob said. "It's been in the family for ages."
"What color would you call it?" Susannah asked.
Jacob looked at the house for a minute. "I don't know, off white?"
"Interesting." Susannah said. "I'd go more with a beige."
Jacob shrugged. "I guess that fits."
"Whatever color it is, it's nice." Susannah commented.
Jacob nodded. He had never really given much thought to his house before. It was just his house.
As Susannah walked, she kicked a small rock.
Jacob thought of something just then that he really wanted to show Susannah. "I have something cool to show you," he said, leading her passed his house.
"Alright." Susannah said, following him.
A bit later Jacob stopped and turned to Susannah. "You have to close your eyes," he said.
"Okay." Susannah said, closing her eyes.
Jacob took Susannah's hand and lead her into a large building that no one had been into for years. It was one big room and dimly lit but it was enough to see the three cells with barred doors and windows.
"Can I open my eyes yet?" Susannah asked.
Susannah opened her eyes, and screamed a scream of pure terror as tears came to her eyes. She forgot she was with Jacob, and that he wouldn't do anything to hurt her. She forgot where she was because suddenly, at the sight of the cells, she was back with the mord sith.
Jacob grabbed Susannah's shoulders. "Susannah what is it? What's wrong?" He hadn't realized what he had done. He thought he was just showing her the cool abandoned jail.
Susannah was shaking, slapping his hands off her shoulders, out of it enough that she wasn't conscious that she was with Jacob as she said, "Mord sith." in one shaky, terrified breath.
Jacob grabbed Susannah's shoulders again and turned her around to face him. "Youre not there," he said taking her face in his hands. "You're with me in LaPush."
Susannah took some deep breaths that verged on hyperventilation as she tried to remember what he was saying. She heard the words, but it didn't feel like she was there. It felt like she was with the mord sith as she tried to fight a growing sense of claustrophobia.
Jacob wrapped his arms around Susannah and pulled her into his chest. He stumbled backward out the door and closed it the moment he thought that they wouldn't get hit by it.
Susannah clung to him as her tears stopped and her breathing was only slightly irregular, as she tried to focus on him and him only. If Jacob was there, she reasoned, then she couldn't be with the mord sith because they'd never let her be with him.
"I'm so sorry," Jacob said holding Susnnah tightly. "I didn't realize it would remind you of that place."
"It's fine." Susannah said, calming down some. "I'm sorry I freaked out so badly."
"It's alright," Jacob said. "It's not your fault."
"Yes it is." Susannah sighed. "I shouldn't let them have that much power over me."
"They were able to make me lie to you," Jacob said. "And what they did to you was probably even worse. No one expects you to walk away from that without it permanently effecting you."
"No one except for me." Susannah said.
"You shouldn't expect that from yourself either."
"I shouldn't. But I do. I don't like it when other people have control over me. At all. Not being able to walk into a room with cells in it is a branch of control that I don't want to give the mord sith, no matter how microscopic it might be." Susannah said.
"It's not even that big a deal," Jacob said. "It's not like you're going to prison for a life sentence for being a serial killer."
"No, but I still don't like it." Susannah said, casting a nervous glance at the building they has just vacated.
"Well come on," Jacob said. "Lets go back to my place. That way you don't have to worry about it anymore."
Susannah nodded in agreement, more than happy to put distance between herself and those cells.
Jacob held her hand as they walked away from the prison.
Susannah held his hand tightly, using him as an anchor not to start running away from the prison, like part of her still wanted to do.
Jacob wrapped an arm around her shoulders as they walked into his house.
As Susannah walked into his house, her grip on his hand loosened as a feeling of safety came to her and her thoughts about the cells and the mord sith faded away.
