The one thing that has stood out from everything else in the referendum campaign is the fact that the stay group have not once, to my knowledge, given one fact that would show that the UK would be better off leaving the EU.If I wasn't already decided, this would confirm that we would be better off out.
Oh Geoff, you've missed today's advantage of staying. We would be at less risk from terrorism from Ireland. Yes they are getting desperate.
And of course the IMF is now threatening that BREXIT will cause an economic catastrophe, and that we will be reduced to eating each others children in the streets...Another convincing reason to vote leave.
Fascinatingbeing in agriculture I knew there were a lot of strange tariffs,
Germany is doubtless earning far more from Africa than ever she did under her African empire
And without the expense of keeping law and order
You live and learn, that's an aspect of the EU I didn't consider, reading the reform of the CAP's lobby sites totally agrees with that comment about the tariffs impoverishing food producers from poorer countries.

And, of course, if you multiply that by the number of countries in the EU and companies that avoid tax by operating in multiple locations, the amount that Africa is losing is colossal. If Germany is making 3.8 billion, what is Italy making?

They'll be threatening to take the vinegar out of salt and vinegar crisps if we leave!
R.M.F wrote: "Isn't it the case that manifestos are not legally binding?..."I think they're specifically excepted from legislation that might be brought in to cover them.
Blimey! But ain't I nice to know Brexit (I hate that flipping stupid word) is raising some passions somewhere. It's making me very, very grumpy. Why? Because as far as I can see it both sides are stretching credibility with their claims.
I got an idea. Why don't they admit that nobody has a scoob what will happen if we leave, or if we stay in. Let's face it, we're the kid who always gets chosen last for the rounders team. Leave and the Eurozone will hate us. Stay in and the Eurozone will hate us.
Make up your own minds folks.
Me? I'm just waiting for Katie wotsit to run along some street in London with a sausage up her jacksie!

By the way, if the UK decides to stay in, is that Brunion? I get those from time to time.
David wrote: "Jane wrote: "By the way, if the UK decides to stay in, is that Brunion?"More like Bruin.
Well, I never thought I'd comment on the Eurovision Song Contest, but the winner appears to have caused quite a storm:http://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2016/05...

I'm looking forward to hearing my colleagues thoughts on it.
Have a look at this and tell me there's no censorship in the UK on 'European/French ' news. This is 20 miles away in Calais and a nightly occurrence. Ihttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aFb7XtG...
And Boy George Osborne tells us that BREXIT will lead to recession. After a few years of his economics, how would anyone tell?

Yeah, I laughed at that. Never let be said that Osborne doesn't have a sense of humour.
Sorry to bang on about Calais, but there was an almighty fight there on Thursday, we could see the smoke from the tunnel but as theyd closed the motorway we were fine. We came off the shuttle and were sent via the freight parking a and came out on the empty motorway, the only traffic for miles was the other tunnel passengers. They are saying that there are people killed but the media is not reporting any of it. The clampdown on negative to our governments news reporting is noticeable, (if you're looking for it that is)
whatever your preference on the In/Out referendum, both sides have no basis of fact to argue from, hence they can only sling mud at the other side. This referendum is ironically only serving to further erode our democracy. If you're interested why I say these things, I blogged about it here
http://sulcicollective.blogspot.co.uk...
You're right Marc, I saw a funny meme on Facebook this week announcing the referendum was cancelled due to both sides running out of bullshit. Made me laugh. I wish they wouldn't put up poster boys on this campaign, it's the facts not the personalities we are voting for. Some are very counterproductive on both sides. Confusing Europe with the EU is totally wrong. The more politicians I see spouting drivel hardens my attitude to getting rid of a layer of them in the EU.
And then, dare I say, there would be no excuse for allowing matters to trundle comfortably along in the known pattern - change means having to put effort into making a success of the economy.
Elizabeth wrote: "And then, dare I say, there would be no excuse for allowing matters to trundle comfortably along in the known pattern - change means having to put effort into making a success of the economy."That's far too sensible, it'll never catch on :-)
I think the trouble is no one knows for sure what would happen either way. They can't say for definite this or that will happen if we stay or go. There are no real facts as far as I can see.
Giles Brandreth was brilliant last night on Have I got News for You.He was in the Treasury on the day we fell out of the ERM and said:
At the start of the day we had no idea what was to happen. During the day, we had no idea what was going on. And at the end of the day we didn't know what had happened.
This is the same.
That sums up so many things that governments try to do. I remember one of Tony Blair's cabinet saying after he'd left office that they were frantically moving the levers of power and nothing was happening
As someone wrote today that the stay campaign say it's a leap into uncertainty and it will do untold damage to the economy and our finances, then they calculate to the nearest £100 how much worse we will be off per person.
For anyone who is interested, here is Brexit the Movie:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYqzc...
It's the leave supporters film.
That bit where he goes to Brussels is a bit like star wars' death planet. It's more than enormous. No wonder they don't want us to start a domino effect of leaving.

I couldn't agree more Will - Giles is always good for a laugh and for a "posh" bloke - he seems to keep his feet on terra firma.
hmmm I would respectfully beg to differ re Brandreth. last time he was on HIGNFY he was perving all over Sue Perkins and making her most uncomfortable. Even in jest it was difficult viewing
Ian Botham's in the news. As always, Beefy is happy to stick two fingers up to the elites and tell them some home truths, which in this instance, is the EU. The shires of England will not go quietly into the night. :)
I finally got to watch the Brexit movie on YouTube. Finally, there is something that gives the reasons why we should leave the EU. No gloom and doom, just facts.Way overdue but under publicised.

It missed out a very important fact about the WTO: Britain would get its place back, because as part of the EU, Britain had to surrender its place on the WTO board.

yeah, wasn't actually a terribly sophisticated argument though was it. 'we get our borders back' etc.
If you want to focus on immigration, then cricket is one of the worst offenders for handing out British citizenship and inviting migrant workers over here on the shortest of contracts - when one Aussie or Indian star goes home to play in a Test series, his English County call in another foreigner to cover for him for the month or so.
When I was most interested in Cricket at the County level, I was training at the Warwickshire cricket school. The national policy back in those days was that overseas players could not play for the county before serving a six month term of residence. This was the main reason why I was trained by Alvin Kalicharan. He spent six months coaching before taking up his county and West Indian test career.
