L Lula, I've gotten this particular error message numerous times on this site, by doing lots of things. Many times it happens when Goodreads is doing their own updates, sometimes it's just a temporary glitch. I suggest you wait a while and go back and try again. Most likely it will work then.

I thought I had figured out that this was a bug when the same author was listed twice.
For example, the author listed once with a middle initial and once without. So when I add the middle initial and merge the 2 authors, there are now 2 authors for the book.
I usually can edit the book and get rid of the duplicate author. But if I try to do this by clicking on the author instead of clicking on the book, then I get this particular error.
Anyone else notice this?
This time however, I can't do this work around. So I'll wait and see if time heals all.

A workaround: Go to the author's book listing (using copy-and paste from another author), and try getting to the profile from there. For whatever bizarre reason, it seems to work.

I have been getting this same message for some combinations. I can sometimes come back to it later and it will work.
And sometimes get it when doing other edits - like deleting books. Can't get this one to delete:http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/29...

Is there a workaround for this? I didn't see this question in other posts, but please refer me if it has been answered previously.
